Have you ever had a snack from Bulgaria? Just two months ago we discovered the Nestle LZ White Chocolate. Although it wasn’t as sweet as we’d prefer, it was still a tasty foreign snack. Bulgaria is one of the 34 countries we have sampled snacks from over the past year and a half but we have yet to really take a close look at a variety of their snacks. So tonight we are back in Bulgaria as we review Ital Food’s My Motto Cookies.
It took a few bites to determine if we enjoyed these Bulgarian cookies or not. I personally kept trying to find flavor and eventually I did find what I was looking for. However, like the Nestle LZ White Chocolate the My Motto was not as sweet as a typical snack from the United States or elsewhere. Once my pallet adapted the cocoa and vanilla became very recognizable. The top layer of chocolate however was a little too waxy for my liking. That being said the wafer was just right. Overall it was a pleasant cookie, but not one that we MUST have on a regular basis. Will World of Snacks offer the My Motto cookie for sale in our international snack store? Bulgaria is on the short list of countries to be included this year and if it does make the cut there is a chance we will feature the My Motto for sale online in the US with shipping around the world. If you are new to our international snack blog, we are expanding our store by one country each month throughout 2014. Next month we will start to offer Filipino Snacks! If you’d like to be kept up-to-date be sure to sign up for emails to the right. As always, keep on snacking world!

In just a few days we will launch our German section of our international snack store. Each month this year we will expand our online snack shop to include a new country and their best chocolates, cookies, candies, and chips. So far this year we have included both British Snacks and American Snacks for Export. What country will come next? We are not so sure, that’s why we are touring the world looking for unique and delicious snacks. Today our international snack blog is in Bulgaria, a county we really have not spent much time snacking in. Just over a year ago we took a look at the Hazelnut Cream Kit Kat from Bulgaria, but being that sweet treat is offered nearly around the world, we feel like this review is of our first true Bulgarian Snack. So let’s take a look at the Nestle LZ White Chocolate. Our Bulgarian snack under review comes in a red package, with the trademark red Nestle logo in the upper left hand corner. Underneath, some bubbled white chocolate letters reading “LZ” followed by some letter that are very foreign looking to us, we can only assume it’s Bulgarian. Interestingly enough, the letters LZ are the abbreviation used for international flights in Bulgaria. The rest of the package hosts white bubbles, which we later found out, alludes to the aerated process the white chocolate goes through to create this foreign chocolate bar.
Upon opening this snack we are greeted with a white multi-section chocolate bar. It looks pleasant enough, but a little generic compared to other snacks we have recently reviewed. It’s also rather light, so it feels a little strange too. I am personally a big fan of white chocolate, so I couldn’t wait to taste this candy bar! The flavor of the chocolate was not typical of white chocolate bars in the US, it was far less sweet. It initially made me crave more sweetness, but after a few pieces I learned to love the Nestle LZ White Chocolate. One of our testers mentioned the lack of sugar made them feel like this was not as bad (unhealthy) for you as an American counterpart. Being no one involved reads Bulgarian and there wasn’t much online I am not able to determine if that is true or not. To me personally, it doesn’t matter. I like the Nestle LZ White Chocolate Bar! The big question, will World of Snacks offer the Nestle LZ from Bulgaria when our international snack store expands? When we do grow to include Bulgarian snacks there is a strong chance we will offer the LZ White and the other flavors in our inventory available for purchase online. If you’d like to be notified when we expand to include snacks like this and others from around the world be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world! Although mostly unknown to the American candy market, the last few features on our Global Snack Blog have been popular treats from the countries they originate. The initial reasoning behind developing World of Snacks was to help people explore and locate these items and make them readily available through out the world. As we started our initial research we also discovered something that we are positive will be a big facet of our company. Brands that most Americans know and love offer rare and unique flavors in international markets! This will get any snack connoisseur excited. With the launch of our store we are already lining up pages focused to these exotic flavors. Until the launch of our store be sure to follow along as we include items you most likely have never heard but will be eager to try them for yourself.
This week’s snack feature is a Hazelnut Cream Chunky Kit Kat by Nestle. As a fan of the all of the American version of KitKat I could not wait to rip the wrapper and sample this product. First thing many candy lovers may notice is that KitKat is offered by Hershey in the US and not Nestle. Apparently Nestle is the owner of the Kit Kat brand and licenses them to Hershey in the US. This unique Kit Kat comes to us from Bulgaria but the Hazlenut Cream variety is offered in multiple European markets including England. This is my first encounter with a “Chunky” model. Instead of the multiple “give me a break” sections this is one thick log that can be broken width-wise into three small pieces. But how does it taste? The flavor is sweet with a creamy hint, and is less waxy then the traditional US KitKat. The chunky variety did cause me to miss the regular style bars. The wafer was thick and crisp with a thing sweet filling, and if I never had a normal Kit Kat I would think this is how it should taste. Hazelnut in general is a subtle flavor and is much more common in Europe. Overall it was a pleasant experience but did not have the wow factor of a rare candy bar that I had hoped. If you are a fan of Hazelnut or are just searching to explore an exotic flavor KitKat than I would definitely recommend it. Our Director of Taste claims it’s better than the US model but both I and my partner enjoy the traditional Kit Kat a little more than this Bulgarian counterpart. In the very near future we are receiving our first shipment of Japanese Kit Kats. This will give us a chance to find the strange and unusual flavors we are searching for. Being this snack is offered by Kit Kat, World of Snacks will most likely offer it for sale in the US. Our goal is to seek out every version of Kit Kat in the world! |
