In only 13 days our international snack store will open for business! We will eventually sell the best snacks from around the world with shipping to everywhere. On January 1st we will release 33 British Snacks and make them available for purchase online. Each month following we will add a new country to our store. Leading up to grand opening we are reviewing a British Snack everyday. Today our snack is the Mega Monster Munch Roast Beef Crisps.
We will start our review of Monster Munch Roast Beef with the pros. The large individual pieces are very enjoyable to eat. The flavor is definitely unique, although it does have similar undertones as the pickled onion version. Overall it’s a pretty enjoyable snack from England. As you may have guessed though, there are some cons. The flavor was too mild. Unlike the Pickled Onion Monster Munch this version seemed a little bland. It left our testers looking for more flavor. The flavor it did have, although enjoyable, did not taste very much like roast beef. That may be a pro though, not sure how we’d like a crisp that tastes exactly like roast beef. The seasoning reminded me personally of Ramen Noodles. For those living abroad, it’s a very cheap noodle sold in the US that has overlay salty and unrecognizable flavors. Although we will offer American Snacks starting on February 1st, Ramen Noodles will not be among them. Well there you have it. Not all the snacks we review from England can be the best. Overall we’d recommend you try the Mega Monster Munch Roast Beef Crisps for yourself. Soon you will be able to have them shipped to you, no matter where you live! We are still determining which countries will be added to our international snack store in 2014. If you have a favorite, be sure to vote here. Also to stay up-to-date leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking! 01/01/2014 UPDATE: Roast Beef Monster Munch is now available for purchase online in our international store.

After a one-day break to film our cooking show featuring Cadbury Flake Chocolate Chip Cookies we are back in action and reviewing another British Snack. Every day this month we are taking time to take an in-depth look at a snacks from England that will be featured in our international snack store. Set to launch on January 1st, we will offer 33 British Snacks for sale in the US with shipping around the world. Each month following we will add a new country and their best cookies, cakes, chips, and candy to our inventory. Now onto the review! Our British Snack of the day is the Nestle Aero Mint Chocolate Bar. Serious snack enthusiasts may know Nestle is not a British owned brand. That’s OK; they are a major producer of snacks in England and all around the world. Initially Rountree produced the Aero Bar back in 1935. Interestingly enough, mint was the original flavor offered. Where does the name Aero come from? It’s short for Aerated Milk Chocolate, which is exactly what the Nestle Aero Mint Chocolate Bar is. The presentation of this mint flavored milk chocolate bar is pleasant. It comes in a white wrapper with minty green bubbles spilling of the side. The center clears back to white and allows the Nestle Logo and the Aero logo to be easily read. The letters of the Aero logo are full of small holes, just like the chocolate. Let’s see how this foreign candy bar tastes!
In just about two weeks you will be able to buy the Nestle Aero Mint Chocolate Bar in the US and have it shipped anywhere in the world. World of Snacks will also feature two other delicious Aero flavors that are set to be reviewed prior to the launch of or online store. If you’d like an opportunity to purchase snacks first and to stay up to date with our progress be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking! 01/01/2014 UPDATE: The Nestle Mint Aero is now available for purchase online in our international store. Yesterday we missed our first day of 31 consecutive British Snack Reviews. Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about you. Instead of posting another review we were hard at work producing our first cooking show! In addition to selling snacks from around the world we will also provide recipes that you can make at home utilizing international snacks. We understand you will first need to be able to buy these featured foreign snacks, so we will not officially launch this segment until after the grand opening of our international snack store. If you are just joining us, starting January 1st you will be able to buy British Snacks in the US and have them shipped around the world. Each month following we will add a new country and their delicious treats to our website. Cadbury Flake is the candy bar that can be attributed to the creation of World of Snacks. Our search for snacks from my childhood that I wanted to share with my son inspired me to develop this concept. We of course will do a full review of the Cadbury Flake here in the near future and it will definitely be among the snacks offered for sale online. Until then take a look at sneak peak of our future untitled segment. For now we will call it Cooking with Candy.
6. Pinch dough and flatten into small cookie size discs. Then take your Cadbury Flake and place in the center. Wrap dough around the Flake and place on a greased cooking sheet. You should enough dough for at least 12 cookies. 7. Place cookies into the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Once removed allow cookies to cool for several minutes before enjoying. There you have it! We hope you enjoy our recipe for Cadbury Flake Chocolate Chip Cookies. We will include a dedicated section on World of Snacks for recipes with many of the delicious snacks we discover from around the world. We will also have a section dedicated to user's recipes. So if you have something you'd like to share please do so! If you are not into baking and just prefer to eat Cadbury Flakes, not to worry you will be able to buy them soon. To stay up-to-date with our progress follow us on Facebook or leave your details to the right. We are counting down the days until the launch of our international snack store. Starting January 1st you will be able to purchase British Snacks online in the US and have them shipped around the world. Each month after we will add a new country and their unique and delicious snacks to our inventory. Leading up the grand opening of our store we are reviewing a different snack from England every single day! Today we are taking a look at a staple from British Snacks giant, Cadbury. Although this British Snack powerhouse is currently owned by Mondelez International (Formerly Kraft) this brand is boldly British and loved by nearly everyone in the UK. Operating in fifty countries worldwide, Cadbury is still headquartered in London. Although Cadbury produces a wide-variety of snacks around the globe, nothing is as well known as the Cadbury Dairy Milk. In June of 1905 Cadbury produced it’s first Dairy Milk Bar. With a higher proportion of milk than any other chocolate bar in the world this sweet treat quickly became a best seller. It’s so milky that Cadbury boasts there is a glass and a half of milk in every pound of chocolate! Let jump right into our taste test of the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar and see what we think of it. Guess what? It’s super milky! We’ve had the Cadbury Dairy Milk here in the US and this is definitely not the same chocolate bar. In the US you are not allowed to classify candy made of coco butter and vegetable fat as chocolate. These ingredients, combined with fresh milk from the British Isles and Fair-trade cocoa beans make this Candy Bar from England truly spectacular. It’s rich but not overly sweet, it’s smooth, and we definitely love the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar! So far it’s among our favorite chocolate bars from England and throughout the world! We are excited that in just a few weeks you will be able to buy the British Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar in the US and have it shipped around the world. If you’d like to be notified of the launch of our store, the addition of other countries to our shop, and be invited to participate in special promotions be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep snacking and we will see you tomorrow! 01/01/2014 UPDATE: The Cadbury Dairy Milk is now available for purchase online in our international store. We created our international snack blog nearly a year ago in hopes to locate the best snacks from around the world. We have sampled chips, chocolate, cookies, cakes, gum, and candy from a total of 27 individual countries. Starting at the first of the year we are transitioning our snack website into a store offering these discovered treats for sale in the US and shipped around the world. We of course will continue our blog and our search for snacks but will also host an international snack store. Each month we will release a new country’s snacks and restock the previous countries. We will launch with a wide selection of snacks from England. Leading up to our launch we are reviewing a different British Snacks each day. Today we are looking a crisp manufactured by KP Snacks.
With such a wide variety of snacks from England and around the world stocked in our warehouse it’s truly hard to get excited about a regular flavored potato crisps. I’d imagine it’s hard to sell original flavor as well, but KP has come up with a creative presentation for those who do appreciate the simple goodness of regular unflavored potato chips. Instead of a plain chip, you get a crispy, crunchy, ring or should we say hula-hoop? It certainly is fun to play with and packs a powerful crunch once you do decide to eat it. What does this Hula Hoop Potato Ring taste like? Well unfortunately the excitement ends with the shape. It taste’s exactly like you’d expect it to, rather normal. After the crunch of the ring the thickness leads to being too overpowering as well. It made me miss a normal thin potato crisp. That being said, all tasters rated it fairly well and our 11 year old Director of Taste was a very big fan. We are getting really excited about the launch of our international snack store. You will be able to buy the Hula Hoops Original Potato Rings and other flavors made by KP Snacks. Even though we are based in the US we will offer shipping around the world. So if you are searching for British Snacks you will have a large selection presented to you in the very near future. To be informed of the addition of other counties to our inventory be sure to leave your details to the right. See you tomorrow for another British Snack review! 01/01/2014 UPDATE: Hula Hoops Original are now available for purchase online in our international store. World of Snacks has traveled the globe in search of the best snacks in the world. We have searched high and low in hopes to locate inventory for our international snack store. Guess what? We have found some amazing snacks! Starting January 1st you will be able to purchase our favorite snacks from England and each month following a new country and their treats will be added to our store. Leading up to the launch of our US based online store we will be reviewing a different British Snack everyday. Today we review our first cake from Britain. A company called McVitie’s produces our British cake under review. McVitie’s initially got their start in the biscuit (cookie) business way back in 1830. At first McVitie’s was a Scottish snack company until they merged with MacFarlane Lang and became the English controlled company known as United Biscuits. For usability purposes when we add Scottish Snacks to our international snack shop we will also include McVitie’s products in that category. Today McVitie’s produces a variety of snack items that are mostly biscuits and cookies. Our snack under review is the Original Jaffa Cakes by McVitie's. Unfortunately in 1927 when McVitie’s developed the Original Jaffa Cakes they did not trademark the name and now there are a variety of companies in the UK and elsewhere producing a similar snack known as Jaffa Cakes. We are reviewing the true original, which come in a blue box with orange writing that reads “McVitie’s The Original Jaffa Cakes.” Inside there is a clear orange colored tube for freshness and 12 cookie sized cakes. Enough of the history and appearance, let’s sample these mini cakes from the UK! For our taste test of the Original Jaffa Cakes by McVitie’s we did no research prior to our sampling and were not familiar with this cake at all. Upon first impression we thought we’d be testing a cookie, after opening the box, still we thought we’d be sampling a cookie. It wasn’t until our first bite that we realizes this British Snack is indeed a cake. A Jaffa Cake is a light sponge cake that is coated with a crackly chocolate and a tad bit of what tastes like orange jam. The first impact of the very orangey flavor awoke our taste buds! It’s so zesty and powerful that the chocolate smooths the taste out and the cake returns your taste buds back to normal. We really enjoy the Original Jaffa Cakes by McVitie’s! We have yet to try another foreign snack that is similar and the fluffy texture of this treat makes it’s truly enjoyable and unique. In just a few weeks you will be able to by McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes in USA and have them shipped to you anywhere in the world. If you are reading this review and are interested in trying snacks from other countries we encourage your to vote for your favorites so we can be sure to add them to our international snack shop. If you have not done so already be sure to leave your details to right to stay up-to-date with our progress and to be notified of any promotions. 01/01/2014 UPDATE: The Original Jaffa Cakes are now available for purchase online in our international store. In only 20 days our online international snack store will open for business. For the past year our team of snack experts have sampled cookies, chips, cakes, and sweets from 27 different countries. Starting January 1st we will offer the best British Snacks for sale online in the US and shipped around the world. Each month after we will add a new country to our inventory. Leading up to the launch of our store we are sampling a British Snack that we will offer every day. Todays snack is chocolate bar made by Nestle. Nestle is a mega snack company that if ranked by revenue is the biggest producer of food and beverages in the world! Nestle is based out of Vevey, Switzerland and is technically not a British Snacks Brand. However Nestle is a major player in England and this British Chocolate Bar was initially produced by a company that was based in England. In fact, that is where the name of this candy comes from. It was manufactured in York! Previously we took a look at the Nestle Lion Bar; today we are reviewing the Nestle Yorkie Original Chocolate Bar.
Since this British Candy Bar has a history of being sexist we wanted to make sure we included a girl on the taste test panel. The Nestle Yorkie Original is absolutely for girls! Out of all the testers the one who enjoyed this snack from England the most was the only female on the panel. That being said we all enjoyed the candy bar. So much so that we contacted our supplier and ordered the Yorkie Biscuits to sample. This milk chocolate bar is indeed chunky. It comes in 5 large pieces. The chocolate is smooth, rich, and creamy. Although it's sweet, unlike some of the other British chocolate bars we have recently reviewed it is not overly sweet. For some reason I personally felt the need to compare it the Hershey Chocolate Bar. The Yorkie Original Chocolate Bar is far superior! Never had a Hershey Bar? Not to worry American Snacks will be added to our snack store starting February 1st. We are excited to find the Yorkie Original Chocolate Bar and can’t wait to offer for sale in the US and shipped worldwide. A future segment we will include on World of Snacks is going to be a short video series of recipes that include candy. We know the Yorkie Original Chocolate Bar will be one of our most included ingredients. We invite your to leave your details to the right to keep in touch and be updated on new features and receive promotional offers. Keep snacking! This British snack review of the Yorkie Bar by Nestle is authored by Richard Olivarez. Contact for article suggestions.
Walkers is one of the leading manufactures of crisps (chips) in England with a 47% marketing share. Their plant in Leicester is one of the largest crisps production facilities in the world and they produce 11 million bags of crisps per day! Although Walkers is owned by parent company PepsiCo who also owns Lays, this brand is distinctly British. Their ingredients come from the UK and they us British Potatoes, to be precise, 800 tons of potatoes a day. Walkers of England produces many varieties of crisps flavors. Today we are reviewing Cheese & Onion Crisps by Walkers. Our sample comes in a blue bag and reads “Unmistakably Cheese & Onion with Cheddar from Somerset.” Above the text a there are a few crisps with a potato shaped to look like the Union Jack (British Flag) with the words “Home Grown” stamped into the potato. Of course, the bag also has the distinct red and yellow Walkers logo. Now on to the review!
World of Snacks will offer Cheese & Onion Crisps by Walkers for sale in the US and shipped globally starting January 1st. If you’d like to be notified of the launch of our store and be included on special offers be sure to leave your details to the right. Also if their are snacks you are searching for other than British Snacks, vote for them here and we will do our best to stock them. Check back tomorrow as we continue our culinary journey through England. 01/01/2014 UPDATE: Walkers Cheese & Onion are now available to purchase online in our international store. Leading up to January 1st, when you will be able to buy British Snacks Online, our international snack blog is reviewing a treat from England every single day this month. Being this is World of Snacks, every month in 2014 we will add a new country and their best cookies, chips, candies, chocolates, and cakes to our inventory. Today's British Snacks review is roaring and ready to go! We are reviewing the Nestle Lion Bar! Previously made by Rowntree and known as the Big Cat until the late 1990s, this British Candy Bar was initially developed by well-known experimental confectioner Alan Norman. The current Nestle Lion Bar consists of wafer, caramel, crisp cereal, and milk chocolate. When first developed, the crisp cereal was actually Kellogg’s Special K! For snack industry insiders, you may know that Nestle is a Swiss based company. That being said, the Nestle Lion Bar’s heritage and demographic are leading us to categorize this as a British Snack. Now we know a little about this “big cat” let’s take a look at the packaging.
In just a few weeks you will be able to buy the Nestle Lion bar online in our international snack store. In addition we’ve also received a handful of the rare Nestle White Lion Bar. We will ship both Nestle Lion Bars in the US and all around the world. If you’d like inventory notices and special offers be sure to leave your details to the right. See you tomorrow! 01/01/2014 UPDATE: The Nestle Lion is now available for purchase online in our international store. Today is the start of our 2nd week in our month-long marathon of British snack reviews. Yesterday we published our first blind taste test. Our article took a look at British Kit Kat vs American Kit Kat. We had so much fun that we are already planning another snack duel for the end of this week. Today we are looking at the Cadbury Fudge, yet another British Snack that you can buy online starting January 1st when our international snack store launches. Cadbury produces many of the delicious snacks from England we have reviewed this past week. For those of you who have just discovered our international snack blog we will give you a little background about this British Snack Brand. Initially started in 1824 in Birmingham, UK by John Cadbury, this company got it’ start selling coffee, tea, and drinking chocolate. For many years they reigned as one of the top British Confectionery producers until Kraft purchased the company in 2010. Kraft has since changed its name to Mondelez International and is the second largest producers of snack behind Mars. So enough about Cadbury, let’s take a look at the Fudge Bar. This candy bar is fairly small and is often referred to as a finger of chocolate. I am pretty tall with fairly large hands and I have to say this is big for a finger, but small for a chocolate bar. The wrapping is mostly orange with “Cadbury purple” ends. The Fudge text is a bubbly blue and this version is marked 20p. Unfortunately with the logistics of importing Cadbury Fudge our price will not be quite as low. Now we know what the Cadbury Fudge looks like we can give it a try! Upon opening our snack we were surprised when we broke the bar up to share with our testers that the fudge looked oddly like nougat. Our testers agreed and we all expected a dark chocolate colored fudge. After tasting the bar the surprise continued. Maybe fudge in the UK is different than the US. For a candy bar that is called the Cadbury Fudge there wasn’t much “fudge” about it. With that being said, it’s a rather enjoyable treat. Of course, the Cadbury chocolate outside is milky and pleasant. The “fudge” center is extremely sweet and mildly creamy. The Cadbury Fudge will be one of the many British Snacks online that will be included in our store when we launch at the 1st of the year. In addition World of Snacks ships everywhere, so now you can have your candy no matter where you live. If you’d like to be the first to know about new snacks and be included on special promotions be sure to leave your details to the write. Be sure to check back tomorrow as we continue our journey through England’s best snacks! 01/01/2014 UPDATE: The Cadbury Fudge is now available to purchase online in our international store. |
