What do pickled onions taste like? If you do a quick search the only answer you will find is conveniently on answers.com - and they say they taste like apples. Well, anyone who’s ever had a pickled onion or have sampled anything pickled onion flavor will tell you that’s definitely not the case! Pickled onion flavor is very British, and not all that common here in the United States. A few years back we posted our Mega Monster Munch Pickled Onion flavor review here on our snack blog. Since then it’s been introduced to our store and has become a great seller, so much so that we don’t get to snack on them often - because they sell out. Recently we started selling Walkers Pickled Onion Crisps. They’ve been a hot seller too. So we thought it would be worth comparing Mega Monster Munch Pickled Onion Crisps and the Walkers Pickled Onion Crisps. So on to the review! First up is the one we sampled long ago, the Mega Monster Munch Pickled Onion Flavor baked corn snack. We already know we like them, but how do we describe how they taste? Without heading back to our old post we ripped open a bag and gave them a shot. They are intense and bursting with flavor. The have a distinct vinegar burst that mellows out during the after bite. The onion is impactful, but not nearly as notable as the vinegar. The shape is exaggerated and a tad bit silly, but fun nonetheless. Overall, it’s an enjoyable snack from England. Next up, our newcomer- Walkers Pickled Onion Crisps. If we liked the previous snack, we have to like these? Wrong! They are completely different. The crisps have a burnt tinge, which makes me think they are natural but still takes away from the flavor. Also the onion is much more powerful and very noticeable. If I had to guess, I would say this version tastes more like authentic pickled onions. So who is the winner in our match up of pickled onion crisps? Two out of three tasters preferred the Mega Monster Munch Picked Onion Crisps. However, our youngest reviewer (a teenager) chose Walkers. So ultimately, it’s up to you to figure it out. Lucky for you (and us) we sell them both online here in the US with international shipping. As always, keep on snacking world!

We love chocolate at World of Snacks and chances are if you are reading this blog post you do too. However, is chocolate loved by everyone in the world? We spent a little time digging up research to see just how popular chocolate is across the globe. Lucky for us, Nielsen led one of the studies we found. In 2014 they asked 30,000 consumers from around the world in 60 different countries what they snacked on in the last 30 days. Guess what the most common response was? Chocolate! A massive 64 percent of overall responses mentioned it was chocolate they were snacking on most recently. So which region loves chocolate the most? We are in North America and although chocolate weighed in at 59%, chips were actually the most snacked on category coming in at 63%. Even though chocolate was the most common answer across the board, only one region weighed in with chocolate in the first position. The Asian Pacific region reported a massive 69%! Chocolate was in first for both China and Japan. Our international snack store carries a large selection of Japanese Snacks and the amazing selection of chocolates correlates with this report. In all of the remaining regions chocolate ranked 2nd as the most consumed snack. What other items are people around the world snacking on? Bloomberg Business did a fantastic job highlighting the results on their Global Snack Survey article. A surprise for us is how popular popcorn is in the United States and Latin America. Currently World of Snacks does not offer any popcorn snacks. This is something we need to consider. So to recap- does everyone in the world love chocolate? Yes, it certainly appears so. Craving chocolate right now? Check out some of our favorites from around the world in our international snack store including British Chocolates, Japanese Kit Kats, and Ukrainian Snacks.
World of Snacks initially started solely as a blog. It was a fun place for our family to share photos and details on snacks that we discovered from around the world. Our goal was to learn more about a variety of foreign cultures through their junk food. Fast-forward nearly 3 years and our blog is still running strong. We’ve now sampled snacks from 40 countries. It’s been a ton of fun for our family and we’ve taken our blog and created a successful international snack store that currently offers the best snacks from 12 different countries.
While exploring with our blog and developing our snack store we created many valuable relationships with people from all over the world. Snack enthusiast from across the globe reached out to us with suggestions on which snacks to try - always including a list of their favorites. The world became a much smaller place as we connected with people from all walks of life. We now understand much more about different cultures and we continue to learn.
In my personal quest for increased international knowledge I ran across a TED Talk from writer and blogger Ann Morgan who lives in London, UK. TED is an acronym for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. They are a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas in the form of short inspirational videos. Ann created a blog called A Year of Reading the World. Here she highlights her exploration on the world through books. Her story is inspiring and although her experience with exploring cultures is more in-depth than ours, we felt our individual journeys venture down some similar paths.
Although you may have come here looking for a lighthearted review on random snacks from around the world, today you get to watch this inspiring video. Enjoy!
World of Snacks is in search of the best snacks in the world. Our travels have taken us through dozens of countries and our international snack store now offers treats from 8 different countries. Our plan is to include several more countries by the end of the year. We utilize our international snack blog to review treats that we are considering adding to our store. Tonight snack is a cookie (or should we say biscuit) from England. We are reviewing Cadbury Dairy Milk Biscuits.
The second these biscuits arrived from England we ripped the package right open. Rich Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate on a biscuit! This snack did not disappoint us. The chocolate is indeed what it says it is. It’s thick and rich. The inner biscuit is sweet, crunchy, and an absolute compliment to the chocolate. We love the Cadbury Dairy Milk Biscuits! Better than the Yorkie Biscuits? It’s too soon to say. Will World of Snacks offer the Cadbury Dairy Milk Biscuits for sale in the US in our snack store? Yes, in the very near future you will be able to buy these online and have them shipped to you anywhere in the world! If you’d like to be notified when they arrive and to receive special offers be sure to leave your details to the right. As always, keep on snacking world!
We love British Chocolate Bars! Chances are if you are taking time to read our review of the Cadbury Wispa you do too. World of Snacks features the best snacks from around the world. Last year we spend our time reviewing an assortment of chocolates, candies, chips, and cookies from 34 different countries. This year we created our international snack store and each month this year we are expanding our store to include a new country’s snacks. Next month we will begin selling snacks from the Philippines. Until then, why not take a look at one of our best-selling British chocolate bars. If you are a fan of British Chocolate than there is absolutely no way you haven’t heard of Cadbury. They are the biggest chocolate producer in the UK and they produce several of our favorite chocolate bars from England, or elsewhere. What are our favorites? We cannot get enough of the Cadbury Flake. Until today we have yet to review a Cadbury Wispa, or even try one for that matter. So let’s get on with our review and take a closer look.
If you are unfamiliar with aerated chocolate, we suggest you get familiar immediately. We’ve done a few reviews on aerated chocolate before including the British Orange Aero Bar and the Bulgarian Nestle LZ White Chocolate. Basically an aerated chocolate bar is a chocolate injected with a gas to make an assortment of bubbles. It makes the bar less filling and fun to eat. The Cadbury Wispa is the first aerated chocolate bar that we’ve reviewed that only features tiny bubbles. All others have had large bubbles. The Wispa also has a thick milky chocolate coating all around. So if you are a chocolate lover, you’ll love chocolate on chocolate. So what do we think? We are not surprised, but we love the Cadbury Wispa. It’s rich, sweet, creamy, and fun to eat. The filling is light and fluffy, like an American 3 Musketeers Bar. So that’s our review of the Cadbury Wispa. You can buy this and other British Chocolate Bars online now. If you’d like to be kept up-to-date as we expand our international snack store we invite you to leave your details to the right. As always, keep on snacking world! 5-29-2014 UPDATE: While Writing this Review we sold out of Cadbury Wispa Bars. More soon! Our international snack blog is dedicated to locating the very best snacks in the world. At the start of this year we began offering these foreign snacks for sale online. We started with cookies, cakes, chocolates, and chips from England and each month since we’ve added a new country. Just a few days ago we launched our snacks from Japan, featuring rare Japanese Kit Kats. Although we expand the products offered each month as we feature a new country, we do also continue to seek out additional snacks from the countries that are already included in our inventory. Tonight our review is of one such snack. We are reviewing Walkers Smoky Bacon Crisps.
Our sample came in a maroon colored bag. There is a big Walkers logo, which looks very similar to the US Lays logo. If you haven’t caught any of our other Walkers reviews, the reason they look similar is they are both owned by the same parent company. Under the logo a few potato chips with a half cut potato that read “home grown.” Below the chips and the potato it reads “Scrumptiously Smoky Bacon with Pork from Norfolk.” Let’s see how these British Crisps taste! Upon opening the bag we were hit with a potent whiff of bacon. It immediately made me think of the US salad topping, Bacon Bits. The smell was nearly dead on with the taste. The flavor is savory, slightly salty, and hosts a lingering smoky after taste. The chips were perfectly fried, and is superior to a typical Lays chip here in the States. Although the bacon flavor is not that of home cooked bacon and leans towards a more highly processed approach, we really love this snack! In fact, it’s among my favorite chips in the world! If you are one of our thousands of blog followers you know we tend to close with a determination if we will offer the reviewed snack for sale in our international snack store. Well, this snack was just added. So now you can buy Walkers Smoky Bacon Crisps online here in the US and have them shipped to you anywhere in the world! If you’d like to be kept up to date with new snacks we feature in our store and to receive special offers be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world!
One of the reasons we decided to create our international snack blog was my personal love of British snacks. Finding snacks from England here in the United States isn’t always an easy thing. Well, earlier this year we decided to open an international snack store and started offering British Snacks for Sale online here in the US. Now we get to try all the British snacks and offer the very best for sale. One of my favorite British Chocolate Bars is the Cadbury Flake and our snack under review today looks like it’s a distant relative. So needless to say, I am personally ecstatic to be reviewing the Cadbury Twirl!
Oddly enough I was unfamiliar with the Cadbury Twirl prior to this review. What makes it odd is I lived in the UK for a decent amount of time as a child in 90s and this British snack has been offered for sale since the 70s. What’s even stranger, the Cadbury Twirl is the best-selling chocolate bar in the UK. Although I missed it in the UK, I will not miss it in our international snack store! So let’s take a closer look.
Our British Chocolate Bar under review comes in a shinny Cadbury purple wrapper. Their logo halos the “T” in the fun and very yellow “Twirl” text across the length of the bar. Their slogan is place along the width of the bar and reads “The Intense Chocolate Hit”. On the back, a bunch of normal necessary jargon and some text that reads “2 Milk Chocolate Fingers”, a term Cadbury likes to us often. But, unless you are blind you probably know all this, so onto our review of the Cadbury Twirl.
Well there you have it. World of Snacks endorses the Cadbury Flake over the Cadbury Twirl, although to be honest we love them both! Which do you prefer? We’d love to hear from you below. If you haven’t tried them, click the links above; we sell both the Flake and Twirl online here in the US with shipping around the world. If you are looking for something a little more exotic, check out our recent addition of Japanese Kit Kats. Each month this year we are expanding out international snack store by one country. If you’d like updates and coupons be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world!
Our international snack blog is whizzing around the world seeking out the best chocolate, cookies, cakes, candies, and chips from across the globe. Earlier this year we launched our international snack store and we now host the best snacks from four countries with a fifth coming next month. Our first country that we featured was England, and now we currently sell many of the best British Snacks online here in the US with international shipping available. Tonight we are reviewing one of our favorites, the British Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut. Now serious chocolate lovers will know that you can indeed find Cadbury Chocolate here in the US. What they may not know is that the US Cadbury is just a licensing agreement and is not the same as the authentic British Cadbury. Different ingredients and a completely different taste! They don't even look the same! We may come back and do a blind taste test to see which is preferred in the US but being we just did a taste test of the American vs German Haribo Happy Cola Gummi Candy, so we decided we will just do a straight forward review. So let’s take a look at the Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut. Our sample for our snack review weighs in at 49 grams. It comes is a pretty luxurious matte purple wrapper. The right hand corner state this is a new shape, and although it’s been awhile since we’ve had this British Chocolate bar in a different shape we will just have to believe them. Cadbury logo is on the right, and the Dairy Milk text stretches across the width of the bar. The bottom portion of the wrapper is maroon and states “Fruit & Nut.” Lastly the package features a single piece of chocolate with a nut and piece of fruit to the left. Now onto the taste test! Several months ago we did a review of the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar and we loved it. Prior to that it had been many years since I personally sampled Cadbury Dairy Milk. That review brought back a long lost love and since then I have been smuggling both the classic version and the Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut out of our inventory. So to give an in impartial review I had to bring in a few taste testers to see if they too will fall in love with this British Chocolate Bar. Guess what? They agree with me. The British Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut Chocolate Bar is awesome! The chocolate is very sweet but pleasant, so smooth and creamy, and accents the fruit and nut portion very well. The fruit and nut translates to raisins and almonds and that are well distributed throughout the Cadbury Chocolate. If you are one of World of Snacks blog followers than you’ll know this is where we tend to decide if we will stock the snack under review in our international snack store. Well this snack is already in stock. You can buy the British Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut Bar online right now. No need to wait! You can also check out our full selection of British Chocolate Bars. If you’d like to be updated when we add new products and receive special discounts be sure to leave your details to the right. As always, keep on snacking world!
After a clear over a year of sampling the best snacks from around the world we have decided to rank a few of the foreign snacks currently offered for sale online in our international snack store. We have utilized taste test panels, conducted blind taste tests, and reviewed our sales of individual snack items. Today we are taking all this data into account so we can offer our list of the Top 5 British Chocolate Bars!
The Number 5 Top British Chocolate Bar
Nestle Aero Mint Bar - This tasty British chocolate bar comes in 3 flavors but the one that stands out the most is the original. No it’s not the classic milk chocolate version, the original manufacture of this sweet treat created the Aero Mint Bar prior to the traditional milk chocolate version. Out off all the mint chocolate bars we’ve sampled from anywhere in the world the Nestle Aero Mint Bar is our favorite! The inside is aerated mint chocolate and it’s all wrapped in a creamy chocolate shell making a perfect combination and our choice for #5 on our list of top 5 British Chocolate Bars.
The Number 4 Top British Chocolate Bar
Nestle White Lion - If this was my personal list of favorite chocolate bars from England, the Nestle White Lion would be number 1. However, taking all the stats into consideration and looking close at the feedback from our team of reviewers, I’ll have to settle with placing this white chocolate candy bar in the 4th position. Inside this chocolate bar you’ll find cereal pieces, wafer, and caramel. Outside of the bar, some of the best tasting white chocolate we’ve come across in a mass produced snack item.
The Number 3 Top British Chocolate Bar
Yorkie Bar - There was nearly a tie for the number 3 and number 2 positions on our list of Top British Chocolate Bars. We went back and forth with the decision but ultimately the Yorkie Bar is our 3rd favorite candy bar from England. Oddly enough this chocolate bar was initially created as the candy bar that just slipped passed to the second position. What’s it made of? Well simply put, this is a true chocolate bar and one of the top for sure.
The Number 2 Top British Chocolate Bar
Cadbury Dairy Milk - Our British snack followers may revolt when they see this list, but keep in mind this is from an American company’s perspective! The number 2 chocolate bar on our list is one of the best selling candy bars in the UK, we are talking about the much loved Cadbury Dairy Milk! Now to please our English followers- the Cadbury Dairy Milk is better than any American Chocolate Bar. In the US, there is also a made for American version and it does not compare to the real deal. If you are not familiar with the British Snack, it’s the milkiest chocolate on the market! No need for filler or any other items, just pure chocolate (not pure cocoa for our snack purest followers).
The Best British Chocolate Bar
Cadbury Flake - We took our candy research very seriously, spent hours coming up with our list, interviewed many snackers- all to choose a winner. One of the reasons World of Snacks was created was I personally spent time as a child in England and I wanted to share some of the unique and delicious snacks I discovered with my family. I promise I did not amend these result for my personal pleasure. So our number 1 pick and my personal favorite from my childhood spent in England is the Cadbury Flake! Folds of the best tasting milk chocolate are layered together to create a crumbly treat like no other. Other British Snack companies have tried to imitate this snack, but none have come close and this is by far our favorite chocolate bar from the UK!
So there you have it! We’d love to see if you agree, or disagree. Feel free to leave your comment below and let us know what you think. If you disagree tell us your favorite and why you think it should be the top British Chocolate Bar. You can also check out our all our British Snacks and have them shipped to you now. Keep on snacking world!
Our goal is to be the biggest supplier of international snacks in the world, hence the name World of Snacks! So far our international snack store only offers two countries; we have British Snacks and American Snacks. Each month this year we are expanding our inventory to include an additional country. Next month we are considering German Snacks, but are not 100% sure. If you have international snack you’d like to see offered, vote now! The purpose of our global snack blog is to review items offered for sale and explored snacks we are thinking about including. Today our blog is taking a look at a new snack that has just arrived in our online British Snack Store. Our review today is of Walkers Worcester Sauce Crisps. Our store currently offers 4 other delicious flavors of the British Walker Crisps and when we realized we neglected to stock the British Worcester Sauce flavor we called our supplier and told them to get this snack to us as fast as possible! Why? Because we love all the other flavors so much we knew we had to have them! Our last review of this tasty snack was for the Walkers Cheese & Onion Crisps. Our best seller, the Walkers Prawn Cocktail flavor. Enough back story, let’s take a closer look at these British Worcester Sauce Chips. Our pack comes from a variety bag and is a fun purple color. Or course the top features the very American Lay’s inspired Walkers logo and the words “Worcester Sauce” just below. The small print reads “potato crisps exclusively made with 100% British Potatoes.” Very patriotic! We couldn’t wait to rip a bag open so we did just that prior to adding them to our inventory. Let’s see how they taste! As can be expected, we love British Worcester Sauce Crisps! They taste like they sound, like crispy potatoes douched in Worcester sauce. It must be noted though, we are not fans of Worcester sauce to begin with, but as a snack this British treat really comes together. We took a few bags to our friends and family to see if they love them like we do. Well, to a wide age group of American snackers the reviews are mixed, but what do they know? Generally we end our blog with a determination if we will or will not offer the reviewed snack in our international snack store. However, this review is different. Right this second you can buy Walkers Worcester Sauce Crisps online (and other flavors). Our supply is limited though so if you are interested be sure to get some today! If you’d like to be notified as our inventory expands and to receive special deals be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world! |
