Tonight our international snack blog is once again heading to our neighbors to the north, Canada! Although several of our snack blog followers have reached out to tell us that Canadian and British Snacks are nearly identical, we’ve still managed to find some truly authentic snacks from the great up north to feature in our blog. Our snack under review tonight is from a company we have highlighted several times previously. We are talking about LB Maple Treat. Since they’ve given us a large selection of their maple-based snacks from Canada, we’ve really started to develop a craving for maple. So far we’ve reviewed their Maple Sugar Candies, Maple Butter, and Maple Cream Fudge. We’ve loved two out of the three; will tonight’s snack take us to 3 out of 4? Let’s take a closer look at their Canadian Maple Syrup Cream Cookies. Our sample under review contains 24 cookies and weighs in at 400 grams. Like many of the other snacks from LB Maple Treat the packaging is relevant, but doesn’t wow us. It is however very patriotic, it features a flag from Canada and both English and French text. In addition it boasts that these cookies are made from 100% maple syrup. Enough of how these cookies from Canada look, now onto the taste test! Something has happened since our last review of Canadian Maple Cream Fudge. The folks at LB Maple Treat were kind enough to send us two boxes of their fudge. The first we utilized for our initial review. The second we sent to my son’s school where he polled his 10-11 year old friends. We like the Canadian Maple Cream Fudge, but the kids loved it! They literally could not get enough, so when it was time to select our review panel for the Canadian Maple Syrup Cream Cookies we decide to include several children. What did they think? Both the kids and adults LOVED these Maple Syrup Cookies from Canada. Personally I though I was mapled out, but one bite and I was back in love. The cream is rich, sweet, and decadent. The cookies slightly bland, but that is what brings you back down to earth. I truly wasn’t ready for these and the kids again could not get enough! Will World of Snacks offer LB’s Canadian Maple Syrup Cream Cookies in our international snack store when we expand to include Canada? Right now we are not sure when and if we will add Canada, but if we do several of the snacks offered by LB Maple treat will be featured. If you are looking for the best snacks in the world, check out our international store. If you’d like to receive discounts and be notified as we add countries to our inventory be sure leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world!

In just a few days we will officially announce the addition of Mexican Snacks to our international snack store. They are all currently listed for sale online in our store; we are just adding details to each snack. For some of the unusual snacks with very little information online, we have to move them up our list for review. One such snack is the Ricolino Duvalin. The Ricolino Duvalin is a chocolate spreadable snack that is comprised of skimmed milk and flavored vegetable fat. Sounds good? Maybe, but we have no idea on what exactly to expect. There are very little spreadable snacks in the United States. The only other spreadable snack we have yet to encounter from anywhere in the world is the L.B.’s Maple Treat Butter. Although that Canadian Snack was called butter, it was sweet and thick, more like an icing. Our sample of the Ricolino Duvalin is small; it weighs in at just over half an ounce. It comes in a tub that looks like a cross between a miniature pudding and a pack of spreadable butter. The full text on the cover reads “ Ricolino Duvalin Bi Sabor Hazelnut and Vanilla artificially flavored candy.” That’s a mouth full. Now that we know what this Mexican snack looks like- Let’s put it in our mouths!
Typically we close with a determination; we are seeking the best snacks in the world to include them in our international snack store. This review is different. You can buy Ricolino Duvalin Hazelnut and Vanilla Candy right now in our store! We invite you to check out this item and other worldly snacks offered for sale. Each month this year we are expanding our international snack store by one country. Right now we have four. If you’d like to be kept in the loop as we expand be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world! World of Snacks is seeking out the best snacks in the world. We have traversed through 33 different counties and sampled their best cookies, candies, and chocolates. Why are we eating so many snacks? It’s product research! Each month in 2014 we will add a new country and their very best snack to our international snack store. So far this year we’ve offered for sale online snacks from England, USA, and Germany. Who is next? We are not sure. That is why we are still sampling snacks from a variety of countries we have yet to featured items for sale from. Tonight, we are looking a snack from Canada. Last time we reviewed snacks from Canada we actually got contacted by the producer of one. The LB Maple Treat Company was kind enough to send us a variety of their products. Most recently we reviewed the Canadian Maple Cream Fudge. Something we have yet to try from our neighbors to the north is Canadian chocolate. So our review today is from a different company, Hagensborg produces this snack under review. Hagensborg is based out of Vancouver, Canada and offers a variety of the finest European Chocolates. They offer snacks for sale in select stores in Canada, USA, UK, and Japan. Something we are not so sure of, if they come from Canada are they really considered fine European chocolates? I guess we will find out soon enough! Our review is for the Hagensborg Truffle Pig Original Milk. Let’s take a closer look.
World of Snacks will eventually offer chocolate from Canada and other treats from our neighbors to the north. Will the Hagensborg Truffle Pig be offered for sale online in our store? Most likely, although we are still pretty far out from narrowing down a selection of Canadian snacks. Are there any you recommend we try? We’d love to hear from you below. Also, help us choose which countries come next, vote for your favorite foreign snacks here! Keep on snacking world! World of Snacks is back in Canada for a third time this month! Our international snack blog is traveling around the world to find the very best snacks and offer them for sale on our website. Earlier this month we launched our international snack store and now offer the best British snacks for sale online. Each month this year we will add a new country and their best candy, cakes, cookies, chocolates, chips, and sweets to our inventory. Starting February 1st we will start offering American Snacks for Export. So when we will add Canada’s best snacks to our store? As soon as we determine what the best snacks in Canada are! Let’s see if this snack from the Canadian L.B. Maple Treat Company will be included. For the dedicated snack enthusiasts who follow us, you’ll notice we have reviewed two other snacks offered from this Canadian snack company. We’ve previously looked at Maple Sugar Candies and Maple Butter. On our first review we were not impressed by the particular snack we sampled from the L.B. Maple Treat Company. They got word and sent us a giant package from Canada with snacks that they said we’d love. The first we sampled from their gift was their Maple Butter, and we did indeed love it! Today we are reviewing Maple Cream Fudge by L.B. Maple Treat. Will we love this snack too? Let’s take a look and find out. Our snack under review today comes in a cardboard package that matches the other products we have reviewed. The most noticeable image is the autumn looking maple trees and of course, the image of the snack. The package reads in English and what we assume is French. Of course their logo is on top, and underneath it reads “Maple Cream Fudge” followed by “Sucre a la crème au sirop d’erable.” Across the bottom, “A Canadian Tradition.” Inside the box, 200 grams of individual wrapped fudge pieces. Overall we think it looks classy, but let’s see how Canadian Maple Cream Fudge by L.B. Maple Treat taste!
Will World of Snacks offer Maple Cream Fudge by L.B. Maple Treat for sale online. We are not sure. We imagine we may include some of their items in the future but intend to launch the Canadian section of our international store with more traditional treats that expats may be searching for. Do you want some unique snacks of your own to try with your family? Shop our British Snacks section now or leave your details to the right and we’ll let you know as we add other countries. We will also offer you special exclusive deals. Keep on snacking world! Our international snack blog is on a quest to locate the very best snacks in the world. Why are we hunting sweet and salty treats from across the globe? Our first thought was to connect with diverse cultures through their most loved foods. So far we have learned a ton about 30 different countries and what most people generally like to eat. The second reason for our adventure is to offer these discovered treats in the world biggest and best international snack store. Earlier this year we launched our snack shop with British Snacks, including their best chocolate, crisps, and biscuits. Each month this year we will add a new country to our inventory. So enough about why we are bother to spend countless hours eating delicious food, let’s get on with our review!
Although we have been reviewing a variety of exotic snacks for over a year, this is our first experience with a butter. This definitely qualifies as a snack, but butter is not the first item that comes to mind for us. So when it arrived, we were ecstatic to be trying something completely new. Our taste panel was small today, the World of Snacks co-owner and myself. We do intend to share with others later today, but our morning review panel is limited. We decided to try the butter by itself to start, although we imagine it’s rarely consumed this way. Instantly we realized L.B. Maple Treat was right, they did send us an item we “absolutely love.” Of course, we needed to get this Canadian butter onto a piece of toast to be sure. On toast, the L.B. Maple Butter is among the best things we have ever spread. The only other item that even comes close is Dulce De Leche, a Peruvian treat I enjoyed as a kid. The Maple butter is rich, sweet, and creamy. For being derived of only maple, the flavor was just right, not overpowering. With just a thin layer it transforms everyday bread into something truly magical. We paired it with a cappuccino and had an amazing breakfast! They did send us a note and said to try and blend the Maple butter with peanut butter, this will most likely be our breakfast tomorrow. If you wonder how it tastes leave a comment below and we will respond. Will World of Snacks offer Maple Butter by L.B. Maple Treat when our international snack store expands to Canadian products? It’s a definite maybe. We are still feeling out what is in high-demand across the globe from Canada. We enjoy this treat, and hope to eventually include it. If you want to try some unique treats in person you can visit our Online British Snack Store or leave your details to the right and we will let you know when new countries are added and send you special offers. Keep on snacking world! World of Snacks was created so our family and friends could explore the world through it’s sweet and salty treats. Over the last year we have spent time analyzing snacks from 30 different countries. At the first of this year we opened our international snack store to the world. We now offer the best British Snacks for sale in the United States with shipping around the world. Each month following we will add a new country and their snacks to our inventory. The focus of our international snack blog is to find inventory for our store. Today, we are back in Ireland reviewing some gourmet chocolates that we are very excited to be sampling. These special Irish chocolates that we are examining are produced by Lily O’Brien. The company was initially founded in 1992 in the O’Brien’s kitchen with only a wooden spoon and a passion for chocolate. Today the company is one of Ireland’s most recognized global brands and has export sales that make up 75% of their volume. Although they are famous at home, Lily O’Brien also sells products throughout the UK, USA, Australia, Sweden and more. Although to be honest, here in the USA this is our first experience of this Irish Snack. Although they offer a variety of chocolaty options we are examining the Lily O’Brien’s Gourmet Irish Chocolate Gifts. They have a range of keepsake, personalized, and wedding gifts. Our sample is a massive Christmas Keepsake gift package. It comes with their whole lineup of chocolates in a variety of individually wrapped gift packages. The idea is to buy the keepsake box, open it up, give out gifts of gourmet Irish chocolate to everyone your have ever met, and keep the massive container for yourself. Well, that is our take on it. Although the box offers a wide size of gift options, we dove into the biggest and divided it up for our review panel. Our box contained three trays of 30 chocolates, for those who don’t feel like doing math, that’s 90 chocolates! In this massive sub-box of our giant larger keepsake gift box there were 10 different flavors of the Irish chocolate. To prevent the need to create our first international snack novel, we are going to examine each with just a very quick summary. So for your snack research pleasure, here is our nearly tweet friendly review of Lily O’Brien’s Gourmet Irish Chocolate Gifts. First up was the Double Chocolate Truffle. Filled with a velvet smooth 55% dark chocolate and encased in a hard shell 68% dark chocolate this dark on dark combination created a well blended creamy treat that for some reason has a hint of orange. Simply Chocolate was just as the name implies. This Irish snack was a blend of both white and dark chocolate and was a firm and a little hard. Very enjoyable, but the most solid version offered by Lily O’Brien. Le Crunch Chocolat tastes a lot like an American crunch bar that has been re-engineered into a gourmet Irish chocolate. The crunch comes from a French biscuit. Not the USA version of a biscuit though, the cookie kind. My personal favorite was the Lemon Meringue Pie. WOW! This tastes like a fresh lemon meringue pie coated in outrageously delicious Irish milk chocolate. Praline Perfection offered a perfectly presented white chocolate cup outer shell with a praline and smooth chocolate center. The nut was a little small, but the treat had big flavor. Caramel Mocchiato caught us off guard. Generally coffee and chocolate candy can come off a little weak. The coffee in Lily O’Brien’s chocolate was perfect, with a nearly fresh ground taste. In addition to being snack lovers, we are very serious coffee and consumers and to be wowed by a snack version is rare. We are not new to orange chocolate; in fact this is our third review featuring this combination. However, out of the three this snack, the Zesty Orange Chocolate was our least favorite rendition. The orange was a strange firm jelly and there were rind pieces on top? Not our favorite Irish gourmet chocolate for sure. Hazelnut O’Brien was our female tasters favorite, minus the nut. I personally enjoyed the nut, so I ate hers too! The mouse like filling is divine and the white chocolate layer on top rounds this snack out well. Their classic Sticky Toffee gave me an instant sugar rush, in fact we are 30 minutes post review and I am still high on sugar. The toffee is the best I have ever tasted. Our female taster was not a fan but all other truly enjoyed this chocolate snack. Last but not least, Death by Chocolate. This one left us wanting more. The bold name oversold the item. Or maybe it was because we just consumed 9 other delicious treats. The taste took awhile to come together and it was enjoyable but lacked wow factor. There you have it. This is our longest snack review to date! Will World of Snacks offer Lily O’Brien’s Gourmet Irish Chocolate Gifts for sale online? Not at the moment. They have a decent export set up and offer the sale of their snacks right on their website. We may be interested in gift items in the future and if we extend our international snack store to include items like this we will revisit with this Irish snack brand. Hungry for snacks? Head over and buy British Chocolates online now or leave your details to the right to be notified as we expand our inventory. Earlier this year we official launched our international snacks store and we now sell a variety of British Snacks Online. Yesterday we expanded our inventory of snacks from England to include a selection of British Biscuits with half of the selection being produced by Cadbury. Why does World of Snacks only have British Snacks for sale? Well each month this year we are expanding our snacks store to include the best cookies, cakes, chips, chocolate, and sweets from a different country. Next month we will begin selling and shipping American Snacks all around the world. Until then, let’s look at our selection of Cadbury Chocolate Biscuits and compare them. Unless you are from England or elsewhere in the United Kingdom deciding which Cadbury Biscuit (or cookie) is best for your tea time or snack craving, can be just a tad confusing. All three of our offerings of Cadbury Biscuits from England look very similar. The all come in a 300-gram tube that is mostly Cadbury purple, feature a large Cadbury logo, and pair images of the biscuit. On all the packages you can see a picture of the cookie contained within. One side is clearly silkily Cadbury chocolate, the other a slightly different looking biscuit. So now that we know what these British Biscuits look like, let’s being our review and see how they taste. Cadbury Oat and Choc Chip Biscuits We will start with our favorite, which was a surprise to all testers involved. There are very little oat cookies in the US. There are American Oatmeal Cookies, but they taste completely different. Our group of testers all encountered an oat biscuit for the first time on this taste test, and no one was really excited to be eating a biscuit made of oats, chocolate yes, oats not so much. Cadbury Oat and Choc Chip Biscuits are extraordinary! They are lightweight, and you feel like it’s OK to be eating them. You get a powerful crunch, and just enough chocolate chips and chocolate to make them truly a treat. The oats seem to be filled with air, which dunking in milk or tea would be ideal. Every one of our testers rated this their favorite Cadbury Biscuit. Cadbury Shortcake Biscuits Surprisingly enough our rankings actually match the order they were presented. Maybe the Oat and Chocolate Chip cookie set the bar to high? The Cadbury Shortcake Biscuits are delicious as well. They are teatime shortcake biscuits with one layer covered again in Cadbury chocolate. These British Biscuits were sweeter then both of the others and seemed more dessert like. Cadbury Digestive Cookies Out of the three, the Cadbury Digestive Cookies are the only I personally recall having as a child living in England. These are the workhorse of the three and remind me of what a typical British Cookie should taste like. They are denser than the Oat and Choc Chip as well as the Shortcake. They are sweeter than the oat biscuits but not as sweet as the shortcake. Overall they seem middle of the row, and nearly all our testers agreed, this was their least favorite, but still a tasty and enjoyable snack.
Our international snack blog has visited a total of 30 countries over the past year. We are on a search for the best snacks in the world! Why are we looking for delicious chocolates, cookies, chips, cakes, and sweets? Our goal is to be the all-inclusive one-stop shop for international snacks. We launched our store at the first of this year with British Snacks. Each month this year we will expand our offering to include a new country. Who’s up for February? USA! Over a third of our followers live abroad and we intent to supply the best American Snacks to them. So onto our review of the 3 Musketeer Candy Bar. The 3 Musketeers chocolate bar is a big hit in both the US and Canada. Originally released by the Mars Candy Company way back in 1932 the car initially came in three pieces, hence the name. Interestingly enough, each bar was a different flavor. For just 5 cents you got chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla 3 Musketeers bars. Currently chocolate is the only flavor offered, although they have dabbled in others at times. We really wish we could get our hands on a Vanilla of Cherry 3 Musketeers bar though! Let’s take a closer look at the flavor we can locate. Our 3 Musketeers Candy Bar comes in a silver-ish foil like wrapper. The name of the bar is boldly placed in red across the front and the text below reads “Whipped Up, Fluffy Chocolate-on-Chocolate Taste.” Oddly enough, the Mars Logo is very small and placed on the back. In the early days this American Candy Bar was touted as one of the biggest. Now, it seems to be just average size. Enough of how it looks, onto the taste-test of the 3 Musketeers Bar. At least two-thirds of our followers already know how this American candy bar tastes. That being said, how many of you have really tried to put what a 3 Musketeers Candy Bar tastes like in words? How does it taste? Exactly like it should! We are all familiar with this chocolate bar. What about our international followers who do not know what it tastes like? That’s why we are even bothering to review American snacks to being with! The center of the bar of the bar is a whipped chocolate, as you may have guessed from the packaging. However the texture is not what I personally image whipped chocolate to be like. The inside of a three Musketeers Bar has a light marshmallow consistency. It’s fluffy, and a little sticky. The outer shell is a chocolate that crackles when you bite into the bar.
Will World of Snacks stock the 3 Musketeers Candy Bar and offer if for sale with international shipping? Yes! Starting February 1st you will be able to buy this candy bar and have it exported to you, no matter where you live. We will also offer the 3 Musketeers Candy Bar wholesale in larger quantities. So which country will fall the US? We haven’t decided yet. Why don’t you tell us what international snacks we should stock? Also, leave your details to the right for special offers and announcements. Keep on snacking world! Throughout December our International Snack blog was dedicated to reviewing British Snacks in anticipation of the launch of our online store. Now the store is open, we will continue our search for the best snacks in the world. Today we are heading north, to Canada to review a snack by L.B. Maple Treat Company. The L.B. Maple Treat Company is based out of Grandby, in the outskirts of Montreal Canada. As a producer of a variety of high-quality Maple syrups, spreads, cookies, candies, and gift packages, L.B. Maple has grown from a 52-acre farm in 1975 to a 100,000 square foot facility and is now a leader in the Maple industry. They currently produce a range of products under the L.B. Maple Treat Brand, Uncle Luke’s Maple Syrup, and an assortment of private label offerings. Our Canadian snack under review today is Maple Sugar Candies by L.B. Maple Treat. Our snack came in a cardboard rectangular sleeve with a transparent window to highlight the candies. The surrounding graphics appear to be maple trees and the overall presentation has a very autumn feel to it. The Maple Sugar Candies themselves are placed into dark red cups and appear rather high-end and appetizing without even having to open the box. Well, how do Maple Sugar Candies by L.B. Maple Treat taste?
Will World of Snacks add Maple Sugar Candies by L.B. Maple Treat to the international snack store? We are not so sure that we will. We do want to explore other snack items offered by L.B. Maple Treat but this one didn’t do it for us. So far our store only offers British Snacks, but each month this year we will add a new country and their best cookies, cakes, candies, and chips to our inventory. In February we are expanding to include American Snacks. For March, we haven’t decided yet. Help us choose which snacks to offer by voting for your favorites. Also to stay up-to-date and receive special offers be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world! Today World of Snacks is heading to our neighbors to the north, the great nation of Canada. This is our first Canadian candy and there are a wide selection of exciting snacks that we hope to review in the near future, including ketchup flavored potato chips! We choose to start with something with a more refined flavor. We are reviewing Golden Bonbon Soft Blueberry Nougat! Golden Bonbon is our first attempt at a snack from Canada but we quickly found out that this company is not native to the Great White North. Golden Bonbon has a reach lineage that originated from Northern Italy. The founder was Giuseppe Mazzucco and got his start as a pastry chef in Asti, Italy. Eventually the company opened a nougat manufacturing business in Western Australia. It wasn't until 1992 that the family run enterprise moved to Canada. The origin of the brand is critical because we are reviewing a treat that dates back to ancient Rome. Our fist treat of several to come from the Golden Bonbon company is Soft Blueberry Nougat. To be honest the only familiarity with nougat prior to this taste test was the core of an American treat, the Milkway Candy Bar. This snack however, is not in remotely similar to a Milkyway. Our sample comes from an assorted pack of flavors and after much debate we selected the blueberry flavor hoping for a mildly sweet and powerfully fruity experience. This snack has more of a subdued flavor and the fruit just adds a tinge of sweetness. The texture is spongy, almost plasticy and it consists mostly of almonds. One reviewer mentioned that the snack hints to a hardened, yet still soft, meringue. The packaging boasts this candy is all natural and gluten free and combined with the massive amounts of nuts it almost seemed more of a health snack. Overall it was pleasant but at first all of the tasters in our test panel were unsure what to think. All reviewers eventually came around and decided it was a positive flavor and an enjoyable snack but not one they would actively choose. Will you be able to purchase Golden Bonbon Soft Blueberry Nougat from our international snack store set to launch at the end of year? We are not 100% sure but imagine it will make the cut. As we sample the other flavors of nougat and get a better understanding of the product we will make our decision then. Be sure to visit our last blog post of the week this Friday as we review a rare Doritos flavor from Japan! |
