Hagensborg Truffle Pig

World of Snacks is seeking out the best snacks in the world.  We have traversed through 33 different counties and sampled their best cookies, candies, and chocolates.  Why are we eating so many snacks?  It’s product research!  Each month in 2014 we will add a new country and their very best snack to our international snack store.  So far this year we’ve offered for sale online snacks from England, USA, and Germany.  Who is next?  We are not sure.  That is why we are still sampling snacks from a variety of countries we have yet to featured items for sale from.  Tonight, we are looking a snack from Canada. 

Last time we reviewed snacks from Canada we actually got contacted by the producer of one.  The LB Maple Treat Company was kind enough to send us a variety of their products.  Most recently we reviewed the Canadian Maple Cream Fudge.  Something we have yet to try from our neighbors to the north is Canadian chocolate.  So our review today is from a different company, Hagensborg produces this snack under review.

Hagensborg is based out of Vancouver, Canada and offers a variety of the finest European Chocolates.  They offer snacks for sale in select stores in Canada, USA, UK, and Japan.  Something we are not so sure of, if they come from Canada are they really considered fine European chocolates?  I guess we will find out soon enough!  Our review is for the Hagensborg Truffle Pig Original Milk.  Let’s take a closer look.

Our chocolate from Hagensborg comes in a small pouch and only contains one piece.  The wrapper is a creamy off white with a pastel purple trim.  Above the Hagensborg logo is some sort of frilly thing, and below the words ”Truffle Pig.”  Under that, “Original Milk” followed by “Lait Original.”  The wrapper also features the sketch of a pig and a logo that reads “All natural ingredients…” It looks elegant enough, but is does it taste like a fine European chocolate?

Although defiantly not from Europe, the Canadian Hagensborg Truffle Pig is absolutely delightful.  The fudge like center is firm, and very rich, but not overpowering.  The outside chocolate shell is nearly crunchy and contains the center well.  Overall we really enjoy this chocolate and dare we say it’s a Fine Canadian Chocolate?

World of Snacks will eventually offer chocolate from Canada and other treats from our neighbors to the north. Will the Hagensborg Truffle Pig be offered for sale online in our store?  Most likely, although we are still pretty far out from narrowing down a selection of Canadian snacks.  Are there any you recommend we try?  We’d love to hear from you below.  Also, help us choose which countries come next, vote for your favorite foreign snacks here!  Keep on snacking world!
