In just a few days we will be expanding our international snack store to include snacks from Germany. German snacks will join our current line up that includes both American and British Snacks. Each month this year, we will add a new country and their best cookies, cakes, candies, chips, and chocolates. The purpose of our foreign snack blog it to document and review snacks that we are considering for inventory. One German snack company we are definitely going to stock items from is Bahlsen. Bahlsen is a European snack manufacture that has specialized in the production of sweet cakes and biscuits for over 100 years! Still family owned, this long time German favorite brand now exports their cookies and cakes to over 80 countries! In the United States their brand is offered at a few select grocers but is still not a staple everywhere. Today we are going to look at one of their seasonal items, the Bahlsen Gingerbread Assortment. Two weeks ago we took a look at another German Gingerbread, the Wicklein Brown Gingerbread, which we enjoyed. From our research of that sweet treat we come to realize the Germans take their Gingerbread seriously, and have for quite some time. Unlike our last reviewed item, which was more of a cake, this snack is an assortment of Gingerbread cookies. Our sample from Bahlsen is a large blue bag weighing in at 300 grams. The cookies presented on the front of the bag are festive and include a star, bell, tree, and circle shape. There may be other cookies shapes in the assortment, but to be honest they are not very easy to see what they are. I think we did see a rocking horse as well. But this is a taste test, so let’s get on with it! Well, the Bahlsen Gingerbread Cookie Assortment tastes exactly as we expected, like gingerbread! They are not crunchy like a typical American cookie, and they are not cake-like either. They are a soft cookie of sorts. Some are frosted, and others are not. They all taste a little waxy and hint towards a glazed donut effect. We found the donut effect present in the Wicklein version as well. Overall they are pleasant, and we imagine they’d make a nice Christmas time snack. Will World of Snacks offer the Bahlsen Gingerbread Assortment in our inventory of German Snacks set to launch early in March? No, we may offer it near the holidays, but we think the flavor is two festive focused to be a year round offering. We will however include other Bahlsen Cookies; in fact you can even buy the Bahlsen Hannover Waffeln online right now! If you’d like to be notified as we add new snacks and be included in special promotions be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world!

World of Snacks is located in the United States and is actively seeking out the best snacks in the world. Over the past 14 months or so we have reviewed unique treats from 31 different countries, including the US. At the beginning of this year we launched our International Snack Store and began selling candies, cookies, cakes, and chips from England. We followed in February with American Snacks for export and in March we will begin selling German Snacks online. Each month this year we will extend our inventory to include a new country and their best snacks. Although we currently offer American snacks in our online store, we started off with just the basics. As the requests come in we plan to expand our inventory of US snacks. The first request was for Kellogg’s Pop Tarts, and you can now buy those online in our store. Since then we’ve had request for several other items including these new Chips Ahoy! Ice Cream Creations. Being they are a brand new snack in our home country we decided to give them a try. We picked up two different versions, the Root Beer Float Cookies and the Dolce De Leche Cookies. Today we are reviewing the Chips Ahoy! Root Beer Float Cookies and plan to review the other versions in the near future. Our full-time taste testers are big fans of Chips Ahoy! Cookies and we currently offer the classic version in our store. There are many varieties of Chips Ahoy! and personally I prefer the non-chewy version. I like to pair my cookies with milk and the chewy cookies simply do not work well when dipped. That being said, I definitely understand why many people, including our other testers, prefer the chewy chocolate chips. As you may have picked up, the Root Beer Float cookies are in fact a rendition of the chewy Chips Ahoy! Lineup. So, now you have a little back-story, let’s get on with our snack review!
Will World of Snacks include Chips Ahoy! Root Beer Float Cookies in our international snack store? Not just yet, but hopefully in the near future. So far our American snack sales have been a little sluggish and with our British Snacks sales through the roof, we may focus on that aspect of the business a little more. We are also getting ready to add our full line-up of German Snacks, so we also have our hands full! However, if you’d like to sample these cookies and live outside the US, contact us now and we can arrange a sale and have them shipped to you. If you’d like to stay up-to-date with our progress and receive special offers, be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world! We created our international snack blog so we could spend time taking an in-depth look at the best snacks from around the world. So far we have trekked though 31 different countries and reviewed their best chocolates, chips, cookies, candies, and cakes. We’ve started to offer some of these delicious foreign snacks in our international snack store. Each month this year we are expanding our store to include a new country and their best snacks. So far we’ve included British Snacks and American Snacks. Next month we will add German Snacks for sale online. Today we are taking a look at a German Snack that will be included in our online store. The snack under review today is the Kinder Bueno White. We absolutely love the Kinder brand and I personally have enjoyed their treats since I first sample the Kinder Surprise as a child living in Europe. Unfortunately the Kinder Surprise is not allowed in the US, so we keep trying to fill this void with other Kinder Brand Snacks. Not too long ago we did a review of the Kinder Hippo Biscuits. As you can imagine, we loved them too! Will the Kinder Bueno White keep us happy? Let’s take a closer look to find out.
We really had high expectations for the Kidner Buneo White Chocolate, although none of the tasters have previously sampled this chocolate bar. We also did not really understand, it’s not actually a chocolate bar. It’s wafer based, and is more of a mix of a chocolate bar and a crunchy cookie. The texture and taste did not let us down. It’s so crunchy, but not too crunchy. It’s flakey as well. The nut cream filling is phenomenal! The Kinder Bueno White Choclate is pleasant, not to sweet, and comes together to create a very well rounded snack. There simply is nothing in the US to compare, and that’s probably why we are in business! Typically we end our review with a decision if we will stock the featured snack in our international snack store. This review is different. Even though our German Snack store is not officially launched, you can buy the Kinder Bueno White Chocolate Online right now! We have a sneak preview of just a few German Snacks until our store officially opens. If you are searching for German snacks or just interested in knowing when we add other countries, be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world!
Our international snack blog is on a mission to find the best snacks from around the world. The snacks that we discover and fall in love with will eventually be offered in our international snack store. So far our international snack store consist of only two countries, but each month this year we will add a new country and their best snacks to our inventory. In just a few weeks, German Snacks will made available for purchase online with shipping around the world. What’s after that? Well, that what we are still trying to decide. One of the front-runners for our expansion is Thailand So today, we are reviewing a Thai snack!
The Koh-Kae Peanuts Coconut Cream Flavor Coated Snack comes in a circular tin with a vacuum-sealed tin top. There is a guy that appears to be dressed in a karate uniform holding a sign that reads the brand, Koh-Kae. Next to it some simple text that reads “Peanuts Coconut Cream Flavour Coated”. Below the text, some peanuts in a crunchy shell. On the back of the canister it lists the worldwide distributors, and there are quite a few in a variety of destinations. This is highly unusual for a snack from the Thailand or anywhere, but it does let us know this snack must be loved around the world in some fashion! Enough with how they look, let’s get on with the taste test of these Koh-Kae Peanuts.
Our initial group for our sampling of the Koh-Kae Peanuts Coconut Cream was small. It was my partner and my son. We all enjoyed the snack, but the flavor was so subtle I wanted to expand our taste test panel. The second round of testing included 6 more testers. All but one enjoyed this peanut treat. It’s a pretty simple snack, a peanut with a crunchy coating that is only slightly flavored with coconut cream. It’s so subtle, that the coconut cream doesn’t actually hit you until the aftertaste. Several of the snackers mentioned the Koh-Kae peanuts taste similar to the American Ritz Crackers Peanut Butter Sandwiches, and although I didn’t realize it at first, I do agree. As I write this article I am also still eating this Thai Snack, and it’s just hit me as well. They are very addicting!
Will World of Snacks offer Koh-Kae Peanuts Coconut Cream in our selection of Snacks from Thailand? For sure! I am already craving more for myself and being they have a pretty decent international following this would be a great fit in our international snack store. Well there you have it. If you’d like to stay up-to-date as we add additional countries and their best snacks to our store be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world!
World of Snacks is on a mission to locate the very best snacks in the world. Over the past 13 months we have visited a total of 31 different countries and tried their best candies, cookies, and cakes. One country that we haven’t reviewed enough snacks from is Italy. We love many things Italian, including their snacks. So tonight, we are in Italy reviewing the Balconi Tiramisu! Balconi Dolciaria is an Italian snack company that specializes in cakes. Founded in 1953 as a pasty shop by Michele Balconi, this company has grown over they years and now employs 120 people. Their best selling cake is the Mix Max Chocolate but they also produce many others including Mix Max Coconut, Choco Orange, Choco Latte, and the snack we are reviewing tonight- the Balconi Tiramisu. Let’s take a look at this Italian treat! Our goal at World of Snacks is to offer the best snacks from around the world for sale online with global shipping. So selling cakes sounds a little difficult. Don’t they go bad? We love cakes and wanted to try one anyway. When our cake arrived from Italy we were pleasantly surprised to see they actually have quite a long shelf life. Balconi offers a cake in a bag! This is something truly unique. The packaging is bright yellow, features a large piece of Tiramisu, some grain, and a farm in the background. The Balconi logo is in the left corner with the word “new” placed below. Now you know what the Balconi Tiramisu looks like, let’s get one with our review. To be honest, we did not know what to expect from this Italian cake. So far, we’ve only reviewed one other actual cake, the Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cake. We really enjoyed that cake, but it also did not come in a bag. In addition to owning a global snack company, we also are very picky fine dinners. Tiramisu is actually often ordered by my lovely partner at some of the top restaurants in USA, so this treat has big shoes to fill! The Balconi Tiramisu cake pleasantly surprised all testers involved. This dessert did not taste like it was delivered to us in a sack, it was actually quite enjoyable! That being said, it was dryer than a typical restaurant tiramisu, but that’s OK with us. The Mascarpone cream cheese and cocoa powder was creamy and sweet. The cake was soft and fluffy. The coffee filling , a nice touch. The only thing that could have improved it was just a tad bit of moisture; with a shot of liqueur this Italian cake would be perfect! Will World of Snacks include the Balconi Tiramisu in our international snack shop when Italian snacks are added? There is a strong chance! We’d also like to sample some of the other cakes made by Balconi Dolciaria to consider. It may be a while before we offer Italian snacks for sale online. We’ve only reviewed a handful so far, and many of them are offered by Kinder. Starting next month we will include Kinder chocolates in our German Snack Store. So we need to find some more delicious snacks from Italy! Until then, check out some other sweet treats in our international snack store or leave your details to the right, we will be sure to keep you posted as we include a new country to our store each month. Keep on snacking world! At World of Snacks we are getting ready to expand our international snack store to include snacks from Germany. Each month this year we are adding a new country and their best cookies, cakes, chocolates, and candies to our inventory. So far this year we’ve launched our British Snack Shop and our American Snack Store. Although most of our German Snacks are on the way to our Florida headquarters we are still searching for additional items to include in our selection of German Snacks online. The snack we are reviewing today is Wicklein Brown Gingerbread (Lebkuchen). Wicklein is the oldest snack company we have encountered from anywhere in the world, they have traced their origins as far back as 1615! This German snack company has seen a lot change over the years, and even had to rebuild their factories after World War II. One thing has remained the same through out their expanded history; they’ve always made gingerbread! So lets take a look at Wicklen’s Lebkuchen. From our research and this festive packaging, we have been able to deduce that this is a German Christmas snack. Very fitting, since it is gingerbread- or is it? Although Leckuchen is similar to gingerbread, it’s actually subtly different, and very old as well. German monks invented this snack back in the 13th century! Well, we hope our sample is a little fresher. Overall the packaging is fun, it depicts a traditional German home and includes images of children playing in the snow, a snow covered Christmas-like tree, and a snowman. Now we are in the holiday spirit, let’s give these heart-shaped cookies a taste.
Will World of Snacks offer the Wicklein Brown Gingerbread (Lebkuchen) for sale online when Germany is added to our inventory? The answer is no. We enjoyed the snack, but it’s a seasonal item and our German Snacks will be offered starting in the early spring. We will however consider the Wicklein Lebkuchen on a limited run around the holidays. If you are searching for German snacks for sale in the US (with worldwide shipping) we invite you to leave your details to the right. We will send you a special offer when our full inventory is online. Keep on snacking world! Our goal at World of Snacks is to become the largest international snack store in the world. We are working towards this goal one country at a time. Each month in 2014 we will expand our offering of international snacks for sale online by one country. We started with British Snacks in January and this month we launched our selection of American Snacks. We are utilizing our snack blog as a way to highlight potential items that we may include in the future. Tonight we find our snack blog back in Indonesia. Although we have reviewed snacks from a total of 31 countries, one of the most requested snacks is from Indonesia. We’ve had many people reach out to World of Snacks looking for the Kopiko Cappuccino Candy. Eventually we plan to offer the delicious coffee flavored candy, but first we need to determine our inventory of other snacks from Indonesia. So let’s take a look at Parrot Coconut Sandwich Biscuits and see it they will be included in our Indonesian snack inventory. Although this foreign snack carries the Parrot Brand, a company distributes it with US offices named Sun Hing. This is not our first treat offered by Sun Hing. They are a US and Canadian food distributor that specializes in offering a variety of ethnic food, includes Asian, West Indian, and Hispanic items. So we are not sure if this is a genuine snack that is loved by Indonesians or something produced for the US market, never the less- on with the review!
Will World of Snacks offer this snack from Indonesia in our international snack store when it expands to include this country? We think so. We’d love to know if this is a genuine item enjoyed by actual Indonesian, but even if it isn’t we still love it! If you are looking for a unique snack check out our selection of British Snacks. If you are waiting for Indonesian snacks, be sure to leave your details to the right and we will be sure to let you know when our store expands. Keep on snacking world! One of our favorite things about owning an international snack company is the variety of flavors and treats we get to experience. Our last snack article was of the Top 5 British Chocolate Bars and today we are looking at something completely different. We are excited to announce we are reviewing an item from our 31st country, Myanmar, previously known as Burma. The World of Snacks co-founder is actually Burmese and moved to the US when she was 13. Why did it take us so long to review a snack from Myanmar? Well, there are not many Burmese snacks to begin with. In addition, there are not many (or any) Burmese stores in the US or out of country stores that ship internationally. So, finding these foreign snacks is quite difficult. In fact, this one was hand delivered from Myanmar directly! So let’s take a closer look at these rare Mawlamyine Citrus Fruit Flakes.
Well, this Burmese snack is interesting to say the least. Upon opening the package there is a strong fragrance that hints toward lemon. It’s very overpowering, and lead me to believe this strange item is not fish food, maybe it’s potpourri? Our 11 year old director of taste stated, “It smells like an antique store!” and personally, I agree. We dove in and sampled the Mawlamyine Citrus Fruit Flakes anyway. What we experienced was not what any of our American tasters expected. We though the snack would be sweet and chewy. It was not, the most potent flavor was salt, and the snack was hard and needed to be sucked before it fell apart and became edible. It was a little shocking, and only slightly enjoyable. We asked our Myanmar native to see if she enjoyed the snack. She said, “It reminds me of my childhood, however I will only eat it again if I am bored.” After being further question she too mentioned it was only slightly enjoyable. Will World of Snacks offer the Mawlamyine Citrus Fruit Flakes from Myanmar? Well, we don’t imagine we will anytime soon. Recently the trade embargo has been lifted and we have toyed with idea of heading to former Burma to establish and American Snack storefront in Yangon. Even if this far-fetched idea came to reality, we are not sure if the demand for Burmese Snacks around the world would justify us offering their treats in our international snack store. If you’d like to stay up-to-date with the addition of other countries and their best cookies, cakes, sweets, chocolates, and chips to our inventory- be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world!
After a clear over a year of sampling the best snacks from around the world we have decided to rank a few of the foreign snacks currently offered for sale online in our international snack store. We have utilized taste test panels, conducted blind taste tests, and reviewed our sales of individual snack items. Today we are taking all this data into account so we can offer our list of the Top 5 British Chocolate Bars!
The Number 5 Top British Chocolate Bar
Nestle Aero Mint Bar - This tasty British chocolate bar comes in 3 flavors but the one that stands out the most is the original. No it’s not the classic milk chocolate version, the original manufacture of this sweet treat created the Aero Mint Bar prior to the traditional milk chocolate version. Out off all the mint chocolate bars we’ve sampled from anywhere in the world the Nestle Aero Mint Bar is our favorite! The inside is aerated mint chocolate and it’s all wrapped in a creamy chocolate shell making a perfect combination and our choice for #5 on our list of top 5 British Chocolate Bars.
The Number 4 Top British Chocolate Bar
Nestle White Lion - If this was my personal list of favorite chocolate bars from England, the Nestle White Lion would be number 1. However, taking all the stats into consideration and looking close at the feedback from our team of reviewers, I’ll have to settle with placing this white chocolate candy bar in the 4th position. Inside this chocolate bar you’ll find cereal pieces, wafer, and caramel. Outside of the bar, some of the best tasting white chocolate we’ve come across in a mass produced snack item.
The Number 3 Top British Chocolate Bar
Yorkie Bar - There was nearly a tie for the number 3 and number 2 positions on our list of Top British Chocolate Bars. We went back and forth with the decision but ultimately the Yorkie Bar is our 3rd favorite candy bar from England. Oddly enough this chocolate bar was initially created as the candy bar that just slipped passed to the second position. What’s it made of? Well simply put, this is a true chocolate bar and one of the top for sure.
The Number 2 Top British Chocolate Bar
Cadbury Dairy Milk - Our British snack followers may revolt when they see this list, but keep in mind this is from an American company’s perspective! The number 2 chocolate bar on our list is one of the best selling candy bars in the UK, we are talking about the much loved Cadbury Dairy Milk! Now to please our English followers- the Cadbury Dairy Milk is better than any American Chocolate Bar. In the US, there is also a made for American version and it does not compare to the real deal. If you are not familiar with the British Snack, it’s the milkiest chocolate on the market! No need for filler or any other items, just pure chocolate (not pure cocoa for our snack purest followers).
The Best British Chocolate Bar
Cadbury Flake - We took our candy research very seriously, spent hours coming up with our list, interviewed many snackers- all to choose a winner. One of the reasons World of Snacks was created was I personally spent time as a child in England and I wanted to share some of the unique and delicious snacks I discovered with my family. I promise I did not amend these result for my personal pleasure. So our number 1 pick and my personal favorite from my childhood spent in England is the Cadbury Flake! Folds of the best tasting milk chocolate are layered together to create a crumbly treat like no other. Other British Snack companies have tried to imitate this snack, but none have come close and this is by far our favorite chocolate bar from the UK!
So there you have it! We’d love to see if you agree, or disagree. Feel free to leave your comment below and let us know what you think. If you disagree tell us your favorite and why you think it should be the top British Chocolate Bar. You can also check out our all our British Snacks and have them shipped to you now. Keep on snacking world!
World of Snacks is on a mission to locate the very best snacks found anywhere in the world. Our goal is to be the largest international snack store. Each month in 2014 we will expand our snack shop to include a new country and their best cookies, cakes, chocolate, sweets, and gummies. Right now we offer the best British Snacks and American Snacks. Next month, we will add German snacks to our inventory. We haven’t decide what will come after that so we are utilizing our snack blog as a way to document out search for future countries and inventory. Today our snack blog is off to the Philippines! So far we have reviewed a handful of snacks form the Philippines and all have been enjoyable. Our favorite Filipino snack thus far is he Puto Seko Coconut Angel Cookies. The snack under review today is LA2PU Dried Papaya. Will this fruit snacks from the Philippines surpass our recently found appreciation for the Angel Cookies? Let’s take a closer look and find out. Generally we start out with a little information about the manufacture or snack company that produces the foreign snack under review. Something that we have noticed in previous Philippine snack reviews is the lack of information about their companies. LA2PU has no information about them online, so we will skip past that and take a look at the packaging. The presentation of the snack is pretty straightforward. Their logo looks is basic and the package reads “LA2PU Dried Papaya.” In the corner it reads “ Export Quality.” There is a picture of a papaya and a clear window showing the dried fruit contained with in. That’s about it, so let’s see how this snack tastes.
Will World of Snacks offer LA2PU Dried Papaya when our international snack store includes Philippine snacks? The answer is a 100% no way, unless we find that this batch was tainted. Even then, we will not offer snacks that do not offer the same level of quality we expect from our brands here in the USA. We will continue our search for delicious Filipino snacks but until then check out the current offerings in our international snack store. If you’d like to be notified as new countries are added to our inventory be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking world! |
