It’s been a few weeks since we’ve last reviewed a snack here on our international snack blog. That’s good news for you. When we are not blogging that means we are spending our time adding new snacks to our foreign snack store! We’ve added a ton of new snacks from all around the world and tonight we are highlighting one of our newest. Let’s take a look at the Elvan Express Wafer Hazelnut Cream.  Recently we’ve added an assortment of snacks from Turkey and many are produced by Elvan. This Turkish snack group started as a small candy store in 1952. Today they are one of Turkey’s biggest snack producers and have 2 factories employing more than 1500 workers! Let’s take a closer look at their Express Wafer Hazelnut Cream! Our candy under review comes in a shinny red wrapper. Of course it has the Elvan logo and underneath in bubbly letters it reads, “Express” followed by “wafer”. Below that, “Hazelnut Cream.” From first glance we thought it was a chocolate bar, but after picking up, we realized this snack is far too light to be made primarily of chocolate. Let’s rip this snack open and see exactly what it is and what it tastes like. Onto the review!  Once out of the wrapper it still appeared to be a chocolate bar. However after we cracked it open we saw that it’s more of a wafer cookie covered in chocolate. The wafer is filled with air and just enough hazelnut cream. The chocolate is slightly bitter yet very satisfying. The overall snack is light and airy. We really enjoyed the Express Wafer Hazelnut Cream. Our international snack blog is around 15 months old now and we’ve had a blast reviewing the best cookies, candies, cakes, and sweets from around the world. Although each and every snack review is exciting and important to us, we get extra excited when we get to try a snack from a new country. Tonight we are reviewing a snack from Turkey, the 32nd country we’ve explored.
Small cookies or biscuits filled with chocolate are not really common in the United States. However, this snack is very familiar to a snack we sampled over a year ago out of Japan, the Hello Panda Biscuits. Something we did not expect though, we actually prefer the Biscolata Mood to the Hello Panda. The un-sweet cookie is overly crunchy, which is very refreshing. The chocolate is creamy, and has an almost hazelnut flavor. After further examination, we realized it does actually contain hazelnut, which is a nice touch. They are very addicting, and fun to eat!
Will World of Snacks offer the Biscolata Mood Biscuits in our international snack store? We imagine so, but being this is our first snack from Turkey, we are not sure when or if we will actually stock a selection of Turkish Snacks.
