Our international snack blog is back in action and heading to Switzerland. Last time World of Snacks reviewed a Swiss snack we took a look at the Milka Choco-Swing, and we loved it! Will our chocolate candy bar under review tonight compare? You’ll have to read on to find out. This Swiss snacks is made by the luxury chocolatier Lindt. This confectionary company got it start way back in 1845 when David Sprungli -Schwarz and his innovative son, Rudolf Sprungli-Ammann, literally reinvented the way chocolate was manufactured. Fast-forward many years to the present and they are now an industry in their segment. In addition to Lindt, this company also own Ghirardelli. Until today, I would have thought they were rivals. Both brands produce outstanding chocolate. Lindt is available in most major countries across the world. Our Swiss snack however, is not in most international markets. Lets take a look at Lindt Hello Strawberry Cheesecake Stick. Our goal is to locate the best snacks anywhere so we can eventually offer them for sale in our international snack store. Our search has taken us everywhere you can imagine. Well, that is except for Target, a major US retail chain. Since many of our customers will be expats living in the US, we have tried to avoid over-the-counter snacks. The Lindt Strawberry Cheesecake Stick is worth the exception. In the US, this Swiss Candy Bar is exclusively available at Target, and they won’t ship out of the country. That means, there may be a demand. And after our taste test of this Strawberry Cheesecake Stick, there should be a demand for this snacks outside of the US
Will World of Snacks offer Lindt Hello Strawberry Cheesecake Chocolate Sticks available for purchase and shipped around the world? Chances are this will make the cut for our normal Swiss inventory. Our international snacks store launches at the first of the year. We will start with snacks from England and add a new country every month. If you’d like to see Swiss Snacks included in our inventory head over and vote. We are letting our readers decide which countries we will feature first. Be sure to leave your details to the right for updates on our progress. Our international snacks blog is authored byRichard Olivarez. Please contact for article suggestions.

Our goal for World of Snacks is to be the premier international supplier of the best snacks in the world, no matter their origin. So far we have explored candy, cookies, and chips from 27 different countries. For this snack review we are staying home in the United States and looking at a treat that is truly out of this world!
Unlike many of our previous international taste tests this is not the first time we have sampled an Astronaut Ice Cream Sandwich. This treat is rare in the US but often found at museums, something our family visits often while on vacation. We always look forward to purchasing space ice cream from the gift shops and we were all excited to see we’d be reviewing this treat. The Astronaut Ice Cream Sandwich is our favorite and as you can imagine it tastes like an ice cream sandwich! It’s very crunch and firm but as the moisture of your tongue hits this treat it comes back to life. The cream center is foamy and the cookie outside is extra crunchy. The snack tastes fresh and is fun to eat at the same time. Will World of Snacks offer Astronaut Ice Cream Sandwiches for sale when our international snack store launches? The answer is a firm yes. Our shop will offer American Snacks for sale that will be shipped all across the world and we will carry this item. Our snack store launches at the first of the year with British Snacks and American Snacks will follow sometime in the first part of the year. If you’d like to stay up to date with our progress and snack offerings be sure to leave you details to the right. Our international snacks blog is authored by Richard Olivarez. Please contact for article suggestions. World of Snacks is searching high and low for the very best snacks found anywhere in the world and we are highlighting our discoveries on our international snack blog. Later this year we will launch our online snack store and plan to offer many of these featured items available for purchase with shipping in the US and across the globe. We initially thought this chocolate treat was from Poland since it’s manufactured there, however our research has led us to classify this confectionery item as English, where the company originated. Being much of my childhood was spent abroad in England I didn’t find it hard to believe this was not a Polish snack, it was one of my favorites as a kid!
The presentation of Terry’s Chocolate Orange definitely adds to the charm of this high-end treat. It comes is a shinny blue box with gold letters. The snack itself is the size of an orange and comes wrapped in gold foil. Upon unwrapping this chocolate orange you can tap it in the center and it splits into 20 individual orange wedges! We know it looks good, but how does Terry’s Chocolate Orange taste? Although this snack from England was one I enjoyed as a child, it has been a long time since I’ve indulged in one. To be honest, I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect, well other than chocolate and orange. After the first bite, my original experience with Terry’s came back vividly. The snack is fun to eat and consists of firm almost crunchy chocolate that is blended with orange oil. The orange flavor is smooth and not acidic like a real orange. The flavor compliments the chocolate but does not overwhelm the taste buds. All tasters really enjoyed this British candy although my preferences have changed over the years. I was happy to indulge on this decadent treat but I would say it’s no longer my favorite. I think sampling snacks from around the world has led to an increased pallet for snacks. I found the chocolate a hair waxy like a US candy bar and the sugar content to be a little too high. That being said, I’m just being picky. Terry’s Chocolate Orange is a fantastic international snack! Will World of Snacks offer Terry’s Chocolate Orange as a part of our normal inventory when our snack store launches? All signs say yes, so if you are searching for this unique British snack you will be able to order here soon! If you’d like to be notified when our store opens be sure to leave your details to the right. 1/01/20014 UPDATE: Alan from the UK notified us that we actually reviewed the US version of this snack. We did import it from the UK but sometimes we still get items made for the US market. We will be sure to review the true snack from England in the near future. - WorldofSnacks World of Snacks it venturing around the globe in search of inventory for our online international snack store that is set to launch towards the end of this year. We have sampled sweet and salty treats from nearly every country we’ve encountered. That being said, we have not spent nearly enough time looking at snacks from the US. Another segment we have missed, healthy snacks! We want to be thorough and do intend to offer US snacks for sale exported around the world, so let’s take a look at one right now! Our healthy US snack under review is from a company called Burdhouse Bakery based out of Wyoming. This family owned bakery has been servicing businesses with baked items in their hometown for years. Their range of snack products includes breads, muffins, cookies, and specialty items ranging from cake pops to scones. In addition to being a wholesaler to lucky stores in Casper, Wyoming Burdhouse Bakery has ventured out to offer their fan favorite custom granola available for retail purchase via their website. For our snack review of Burdhouse Bakery Granola we sampled two of their offerings. The first is their ready to go Almond Mocha and the second, was a concoction of our own! We chose caramel granola, peanuts, white chocolate chips, and dried banana. We received our sample very quickly and our granola arrived packaged in brown envelope bags with a clear window. The portion size was significant and I was relieved to see the retail bags were re-sealable. The simplistic styling with just their logo above the clear window gave a mom & pop feel to the product which I personally appreciated.
Will World of Snacks offer Burdhouse Granola as a part of our normal inventory when our international snacks store launches? Initially, we do not think so. We are not sure if healthy snacks fit in with our product line. We think healthy snacks could be an expansion in the future, but for now we are just focusing on junk food. That being said, you can purchase this delicious treat directly from Burdhouse Bakery yourself. If you’d like a special invite to the launch of our snack store be sure to leave your details to the right. Keep on snacking! Although we are a US based international snack reviewer and future provider, we know that American snacks are known and loved through out the world. In fact we intend to carry a full line of snacks from the United States as a part of our regular inventory. Last time our global snack blog examined a US based snack, we reviewed a Ken Griffey Jr Rookie candy bar that was only made available at the ballpark during his first year of play. To say that is a rare candy bar is an understatement! Today we are again reviewing a rare snack from the States, this time however it's a household name that has gained recent notoriety with the discontinuing of the this long time loved treat. Chance are you've guessed by now we are taking a look at Hostess Twinkies. Although Hostess is no longer in business, we purchased a 10 pack box from the last batch of twinkles produced. We intended to do a full video review like we previously did for the Lays Do Us a Flavor reviews but with this delicious treat headlining in the news again we knew we had to get moving. In case you missed it, two companies created a joint venture to revive the Hostess brand later this year. That means our ultra rare US snack will be on shelves everywhere! So let's get this review out before we are just talking about normal groceries! The reason we originally purchased Chocolate Filled Twinkies by Hostess is our 10 year old Director of Taste has never had one! As true snack connoisseurs we didn't want him to miss out on a pop culture snack icon. So if you've tried to locate a box of Twinkies in 2013 you may have found out that they are all expired. But Hostess Twinkies last forever, right? There are countless TV shows that have worked in to the plot highlighting the long lasting goodness this snack has to offer. We'll read on to see what we found!
In our search for the very best snacks from around the world we are heading to China! Initially we thought we’ve uncovered a fun and playful mint from China but after our preliminary research for this snack review, we quickly learned, like many things made in China, this snack actually is produced by an American company. So this week we are taking our international snack blog back home to the United States. Our international-ish snack is a banana flavored mint licensed by Boston America CORP. The company specializes in creating high-quality impulse items that from first sight entice potential buyers to purchase them immediately. Well, we have to say they are doing a very fine job, and that is why we are reviewing an American-Chinese mint!
Although Boston American CORP makes a wide range of unique and playful snack items I chose the Paul Frank Banana Mints because another love of mine (other than international snacks) is collecting fine art. I hate to omit that my only interaction with Paul Frank’s company previous to inquiring the banana mints was researching an artist name Shag that I am a fan of. Both artists have a similar style and have worked together on occasion. As I write this snack review I can already tell I will be learning more about Paul Frank in the very near future. For the purposes of this article, he is world famous and has a large international following. Now let’s take a look at the Paul Frank Banana Mints by Boston American CORP. As an impulse item it goes without saying, the packaging is over the top and very eye catching. The tin is a shinny light blue and there is monkey in the center names Julius, who apparently has almost as large of a following as Paul Frank himself. The tin fits in the palm of your hand and contains a ton of mini banana styled mints. Now we know how the Paul Frank Banana Mints look, lets see how they taste! If you had to guess, what do you think this snack tastes like? You are right, BANANAS! Other than the sexy packaging this treat is pretty straightforward. They remind me of the mixed fruit hard snacks that used to be sold (and may still be) in quarter vending machines in building lobbies and other random places. They are hard and sweet, but take a minute for the full impact to get in. My test panel today consisted of myself and our 10 year old Director of Taste, and we both really enjoy them. Our only debate is do you suck them and let the flavor build, or just chew through the crunch. Will World of Snacks carry Paul Frank Banana Mints in our upcoming launch of our international snack store? Well, we may. I imagine we will host a page of collectable candy tins and this one will need to be included. We are not sure if it will be a full time inventoried item or something brought in on occasion or for promotional purposes. We hope you enjoyed our review of these fun and tasty Paul Frank Mints. If you haven’t submitted your e-mail yet to get our store announcement and coupons be sure to do so now! Where in the world are we heading next? You’ll have to come back later in the week and see for yourself! At World of Snacks we are literally searching the planet for the best snacks available. We are currently in the process of reviewing snacks from each country as we select items that we intend to offer for sale on our web based international snacks store that is set to launch later this year. In our search for unique and delicious treats we’ve discovered the rare and collectable snack market. These snacks are highly sought after for more than just their delicious flavor, in fact a majority of collectable snacks are not edible. These rare candy bars and snacks include sports memorabilia, celebrities, movie props, and treats commemorating events. Our first rare candy bar that we’ve acquired is collectable on many levels. Unlike our typical snack review we will not be sampling these treats but instead sharing information about the items and later offering them for sale in our store. So let’s take a look at our 1989 Ken Griffey Jr Autographed Rookie Candy Bar produced by Pacific Trading Cards. Ken Griffey Jr was an all-star professional baseball player whose career stretched 22 years. Not only was Griffey one of the most prolific home run hitters of all time, he also had many lucrative endorsements making him a celebrity in the United States and throughout the world. His endorsements included Nike and Nintendo making him a household name to everyone, whether they followed baseball or not. During Ken Griffey’s rookie year with the Seattle Mariners Pacific Trading Cards released a candy bar to be sold in the stadium. From what we can determine it was produced in two colors, one yellow and one blue. The only place to purchase either of these Ken Griffey Jr candy bars was at the stadium making its production numbers relatively low. Our version of the blue candy bar is even rarer because it’s personally signed by Ken Griffey Jr during his rookie season. His signed rookie cards command top dollar and owning an autographed rookie candy bar would allow a collector to own something more unique for a fraction of the price. World of Snacks will offer the 1989 Ken Griffey Jr Autographed Rookie Candy Bar produced by Pacific Trading Cards up for sale and several other highly sought after and rare candy bars later this year when we officially open our international snack store. If you have any suggestions on items we should carry feel free to reach out to us at any time! |
