Just a few months back we expanded our international snack store to include some exciting cakes from Italy. So far we’ve only had a chance to review one, the Balconi Tiramisu. Although we’ve found time to sample one Italian cake several have quickly become best sellers. So today we are reviewing another cake from Italy, let’s take a look at the Balconi Mix Max Coconut Cakes.  Our sample under review comes in a 10-pack but being our specialty is shipping the best snacks in the world to everywhere in the world, we offer these foreign cakes for sale individually. The 10-pack packaging is colorful and it gives us an idea of what we are sampling. It shows a chocolate cake, with a chocolate coating, covered in coconut flakes. You can also tell from the main image it has a cream center. Of course the Balconi logo is on the package, and in chocolaty writing, “Mix Max coconuts”. The individual piece comes in a clear sealed package, and is not as exciting to look at. Do you really care what the package looks like? On to the taste test!  The last cake from Balconi we sampled blew us away. It was a full size cake and among the first we’ve encountered that is presented this way. So our hopes were high for this coconut snack cake. Unfortunately we were not wowed with the Mix Max as we were to the Tiramisu. The cake was fluffy, the chocolate creamy, but the coconut tasted too processed for our likes. Overall the snack was enjoyable, but not epic. It seemed like something Little Debbie in the US would produce. Well there you have it. The Balconi Mix Max is good, but not great.
