Dalecarlia Chocolates Horses Filled with Caramel Truffle

World of Snacks is back in Sweden reviewing another delicious chocolate treat.  Last time we visited Sweden we took an in-depth look at Cloetta Kexchoklad.  This time we are reviewing Dalecarlia Chocolate Horses.  No they are not real horses, they are a small chocolate snack filled with caramel.

Dalecarlia Chocolates manufactures these tasty sweet filled horses.  There slogan is “A nice taste of Sweden” and we feel this is very appropriate.  Unlike many of the other international snack companies we have reviewed treats from, Dalecarlia is a relatively new company.  Founded way back in 1997, this confectionery company from Sweden has gained rapid popularity and is distributed in over 30 countries around the world.

This high-end snack manufacture produces a wide range of products all centered around the Dala horse design.  The Dala horse is symbolic of Sweden, although we are not exactly sure why.  Our tasting of this snack from Dalecarlia Chocolates is their Milk Chocolate Filled with Carmel Truffle.  The packaging is semi-luxurious but does not match the high price that comes with it.   Our sample includes 10 small individually wrapped pieces.  At a suggested retail price of nearly $8 a box we would hope for something a little more over the top.  The packaging is not what is important, we want to know how these puppies (or horses) taste!

Our group of tasters is relatively small for this snack but we intend to share with friends and family tomorrow.  Today these Milk Chocolates Filled with Dalecarlain Carmel Truffles are being sampled by myself and our 10 year old Director of Taste.   It’s not often we both see eye to eye on a snack, but Dalecarlia knows what they are doing and we both are ecstatic to have a whole box full of these milk chocolate treats to fight over.  The chocolate is a little waxier than we would have expected and the caramel truffle is not what we would anticipated. That being said we really enjoy this international snack.  The chocolate is a blend of dark and milk chocolate and it’s sweet and soft.  The caramel is thick and not as syrupy as traditional American caramel.  In fact if the label did not tell us what it is we would think it was something else altogether.  The filling eludes to a sweet coconut with a hint of lemon.  I do not think this is the intended flavor, but none the less it is ultra enjoyable.  Our Director of Taste states “These Swedish horses are irresistible and I love the caramel truffle.”

Will World of Snacks offer Dalecarlia Chocolates - Milk Chocolate Filled with Dalecarlain Caramel Truffle as apart of our normal inventory?
