Hello Panda Biscuits with Milk Cream by Meiji

To kick off our Global Snack Blog we decided to head to Japan!  After some initial research we've realized that the Japanese snack market is very diverse with may unique flavors.  Hello Panda Biscuits are a conservative choice compared to some of the other snacks we will be sampling in the very near future.  Although Hello Panda Biscuits are originally from Japan our batch came from Singapore and from what we can tell, the manufacture Meiji is popular in many Asian countries.  These snacks from Japan were first released in 1979 and are offered with three sweet fillings.  Although the word biscuits is printed on the box,  in the United States the term is very different than the usage in Japan for this product.  Hello Panda is more along the line of a sweet centered cookie.  For our first testing of the product we decided to go with the milk cream filling since both chocolate and strawberry seem less out of the ordinary.  After sampling the Hello Panda Milk Cream cookies it is apparent we will be sampling the other two in the very near future and featuring both in our store.  They are delicious!  The flavor of the cookie is not as sweet as a typical American cookie, in fact it is almost cracker like.  The center is sweet but not overpowering.  The crunchy shell with a tasty center make it fun to eat.  The cookies come designed with pandas doing a wide range of activities and for younger kids this may add to the excitement.  We each sampled a few and had enough to share with friends and family.  Everyone agrees that Hello Panda Biscuits must be offered on World of Snacks!
