Today our international snack blog heads to the country that is home of the Chocolate Hills! Unfortunately after a little research the hills do not produce cocoa or any form of chocolate. If you are a geography buff you may have guessed, we reviewing a snack from the Philippines. Last time we sampled a snack from the Philippines we took at a look at the very unique Moby Crunch Chocolate. Today we are reviewing another unique chocolate treat, the King Choc Nut. The King Choc Nut is manufactured by Unisman, a confectionery company that we are not able to find any detailed information on. We ran into a similar issue with our last Pinoy snack, and it seems this may be an ongoing occurrence with snacks from the Philippines. Our sample for this Philippine snack review is a mid-size package weighing in at 6.77 ounces and containing 24 individually wrapped mini candy bar type pieces. From first impression it seemed as if we were buying one bar in a shiny gold and red wrapper. It wasn’t until we opened the snack for the review did we notice it has many smaller bars. This allowed us to share and we increased our taste test group to include 10 members (and we still have bars left over.) The full name, King Choc Nut Peanut Milk Chocolate really describes exactly what this snack is. The ingredients are listed as roasted peanuts, can sugar, milk powder, cocoa powder, and vanilla. To be honest, it tastes exactly as you would image. With simple ingredients and no chemicals, you get a straightforward snack. The Choc Nut falls apart as soon as you open it and we deduct it’s due to its simple structure. All of the tasters rated this snack enjoyable and only one really liked it. Most of the other testers all thought it was average. None of our tester disliked the Choc Nut. I personally was in the middle of the group. I thought it was refreshing with its simple make up but tasted a strong flavor of peanut shell. It reminded me of whole shelled peanuts you get from a baseball game. At first I enjoyed it but after consuming a few pieces I believe it would be a better snack without the shells included. Will World of Snacks offer Unisman King Choc nut in our initial inventory? If the Philippines make the cut for our selection of countries offered than this snack will most likely be included. It’s enjoyable enough and should have a decent Pilipino following. Also it will be priced very affordable, so budget conscious adventurous tasters will also most likely be interested in ordering. We are getting excited about the launch of our international snack store set to take place late 2013. If you’d like to be notified when our snack are offered for sale be sure to submit you details to the right.
