Just like the Italian sports cars this delicious treat is small, high quality, and comes in a shinny red color. We are talking about Perugina Dark Chocolate Covered Whole Cherries. I promise this is the last sports car reference, but just like a Ferrari, this snack is sweet!
Perugina is an Italian candy company based in Perguia. If English is your first language it can be a little confusing. This snack company was first established in 1907 by Giovanni Buitoni and Lisa Spangoli. Perugina was first introduced to the US market at the World’s Fair in 1939 and quickly earned a reputation for producing some of the finest chocolate on the international market. Perugina is now owned by the Nestle company but still sold and branded under the original name. Prior to doing our background research it was easy to tell this Perugina Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries are a high-quality snack. The box is understated but eludes to a valuable contents. Once opened 3 shinny red wrapped treats roll out and beg to be devoured. Although the box is made for the English speaking market the individual cherries only provide text in Italian, and I prefer it that way. But enough about history and packaging, how does this snack taste? The build up from the presentation did not oversell the product. Perugina Dark Covered Whole Cherries are fantastic! Our first initial thought was someone went through all the boxes of assorted chocolate and pulled the best out and saved them for us. In the United State chocolate covered cherries only appear on valentines day or on other special occasions. With this snack we really felt like we were treating ourselves to something amazing. The dark chocolate shell had a smooth creamy and texture with just a touch of bitterness. The cherry inside was sweet and plump and the surrounding filling eluded to a fine liquor. Our taste test panel all concurred that this snack was clearly something amazing. Our group of snack connoisseurs consisted of a variety of ages ranging from young to old and our rating was unanimous. With out a doubt you will be able to purchase Perugina Dark Chocolate Covered Whole Cherries from World of Snacks in the near future. Our only disappointment with this product is we didn’t have enough for seconds!
