World of Snacks is on a mission to find the very best snacks from around the world.  We are also hoping to explore foreign cultures and create a personal connection with these cultures through food.  One country that is often in our thoughts recently is the Philippines.  The massive storm that has recently rolled through has taken many lives and left many others with out homes.  Our international snacks group is based out of Florida (USA), and we too have previously felt the impact of major storms.  We don’t want to dwell on a subject that is already well covered by major media but we did want to mention that the Philippines and their people are in our thoughts before we diving into our snack review
Puto Seko Coconut Angel Cookies
As you’ve guessed, we are reviewing a snack from the Philippines.  Our snack under review today is produced by a company called Tita KC’s Creation.  Other than their location in San Juan and a Facebook page with very little information, we were not able to find much about this Filipino snack company.  This may be common with snacks out of the Philippines, we ran into the same lack of details for our King Choc Nut Review.  Nonetheless, lets take a closer look at Tita’s KC’s Creation Puto Seko Coconut Angel Cookies
View Filipino Snacks
Our snack sample came in a bag that for some reason had been modified.  The weight was adjusted to read 171g and is followed some characters that clearly appeared to be Chinese.  We found the text on the back very intriguing:
"Don’t be deceived by this white rock-looking cookie!  Every piece is bursting with flavor that you can’t resist!  Serve with hot or cold beverage, soda, or ice cream.”
Now that we’ve got you excited, lets get on with the taste test of Puto Seko Coconut Angel Cookies!
Coconut Angel Cookies
From the description above you may have guessed, this foreign snack is a cookie that looks like a small rock, and yes, it is bursting with flavor.  The cookie is hard and when bitten into crumbles in to many pieces.  It’s almost best to just throw the whole thing in your mouth.  The flavor bursts, just a tad.  The coconut is mild and the cookie is overpowering.  There is also a subtle chalky after-taste and small traces of coconut that stick around.  Overall we all enjoyed the snack, and the mention of ice cream on the back does make us want to try it that way.
Will World of Snacks offer Puto Seko Coconut Angel Cookies in our international snack shop that is set to open at the first of the year?  Not initially, but when we added the Philippines to our store later in the year we imagine the Puto Seko Coconut Angel Cookies will be part of our normal inventory.
